Meet Omar Yasin of Ramo in Chattanooga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omar Yasin.

Omar, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
From a very young age, I have always had a love for art. I used to watch cartoons and draw the characters I saw on my favorite TV shows. I never really thought I would ever be doing all of this in my day to day life. I began to listen to all sorts of music back when I was very young, like ASAP Mob and Lots of Tyler of the Creator being bullied and looked down as “weird” because of the stuff I liked. One music video changed my life forever, “She” by Tyler the Creator Feat. Frank Ocean. At the time, I was collecting all sorts of sneakers but never thought about clothes. The teal supreme hoodie made me fall in love with streetwear but at the time of being 11 years not being able to afford at the time the $200 hoodie.

Fast forward to my first year at my new high school, supreme seemed to make a big boom and I soon discovered the world of reselling. I began to resell for consistent two years and have all sorts of clothing pieces people would ask me left and right about. This when I began to look into more runway fashion and expand to things I am interested in today. My senior year of high school is when I kicked off everything and created my brand “RAMO,” now known as “RAMO INC.” My senior project was based on the impact of fashion and cultures and how they connect. I created hoodies and t-shirts and had a whole pop-up shop that sold out on the first day. My love for clothes became much deeper than just buying but creating. Seeing people in your clothing pieces, you designed is very exciting and makes you want to create more. Once the summer came by, I also discovered my love for photography. I began by carrying around a disposable camera to create a photo book documenting my year after Highschool but began to invest in more film cameras and experimenting a lot and having all sorts of photo shoots throughout the year. Now I do more directed stuff through my photos and have released two other drops for “RAMO INC.” I am hoping one day I will be able to have my own fashion runway, direct movies and music videos, design all sorts of pieces, and even write a book.

Has it been a smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth but I have always been able to continue on with my life. I used to get bullied for my inspiration behind art and different things around me and my style that made me hide a lot of my interest early on in high school. I also struggle with anxiety that has always been a persistent part of my life and is something I have always struggled with. This is where it made me lose interest in working on my brand for a period of time when I first entered college, but with everything going on I started to create art again and make t-shirts and designs and take photos. I can truly say art has made me much happier and helped me get out of these deep holes. I struggle with anxiety pretty often but I always keep myself busy through my art. Never give up and always push through those hard and difficult times is some advice I wish I got; most people won’t get how you feel but keep busy and stay motivated.

We’d love to hear more about Ramo.
