Meet Johnathon Jenrette of Untitl3d Imag3s in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnathon Jenrette.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Johnathon. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I was always drawn to cameras. My family had a canon point and shoot camera, and I would always ask to take the photos even when I was supposed to be in them. My love for photography was truly born in my sophomore year of high school. I was a dual-enrolled student and while in a criminal justice class. We were doing a crime scene investigation, and I picked up the camera to take pictures of the fake crime scene, but I couldn’t help to point the camera at my classmates. The excitement that filled my body is what caused me to change my major from criminal justice to mass communication. Now a sophomore in college, I am well known, among others, on campus for being “the guy that takes pictures.” This year has been a pivotal year for me as I have started venturing into film photography and video.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road has definitely been rough. There have been times where I have felt lost and confused because my work never turned out how I envisioned. There have also been times where my creator’s block has lasted months. There are times when my photos don’t get as much love as I thought they should, and no matter what any photographer says, that hurts too. The toughest part is not being able to create all the time because of school or work. So it’s hard to really get clients because they don’t know what I could do. I honestly wish I didn’t have to worry about the money part or getting clients.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I came up with the name Untitl3d Imag3s after not being able to find good captions for my photos. I got the idea from my tattoo, which says, “Untitled Outcast.” This means I cannot be defined with a title and in high school, I didn’t really “fit-in,” so I felt like an outcast. Thus the name was born. I am most known for my portrait photography. I am most proud of how I have taught myself everything I know about photography and how my photography has grown and continues to grow. What sets me apart from others is my creative mind and ability to adapt to my surroundings to still get nice shots in even the tightest or the “ugliest” locations.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next five years, I see myself with a successful YouTube channel shooting for different magazine companies, weddings, large events, and even shooting some of my favorite artists like Demetrius Harmon, Mick Jenkins, Boogie. Most importantly, diving more into cinematography. In the next ten years, I see myself as a director directing movies that will move and inspire people.
