Inspiring Conversations with Monsta Luther King

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monsta Luther King.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Monsta Luther King is not your ordinary artist. At first glance one would quickly confuse the heavily tattooed, street educated rapper for just your average street rapper talking about drugs and money, but Monsta Luther will be quick to correct the confusion and let you know that “I am very familiar with the streets because that is where I come from, just like any other young black male that grew in poverty. But I am by no means content with that past”. Hence the name Monsta Luther King.

This urban artist says, I use the name Monsta Luther King not to disrespect the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. but to make people aware of the fact that I speak the language of the streets and these kids listen and understand me. The name Monsta represents all of young black America. We are considered this at first sight. They are afraid of us so we are outcast-ed, but I am here to educate our youth and make them listen! Monsta Luther King is the owner and founder of LOaD BREED, an elite recording label and apparel company. Leaving the streets behind, Monsta Luther enrolled in college to further educate himself on the business side of the music industry, obtaining his Bachelor’s and Masters’s degree and currently pursuing his PHD. When asked what prompted him to do this, he explained that he grew tired of investing money into other businesses that seemed to not take his passion as seriously as he did. Monsta Luther explained that while seeking the information, he began to like the business side of things thus encouraging him to found LOaD BREED the brand.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
By no means has the road been an easy one getting to this point. I have experienced hardships, losses, and also unwanted time incarcerated. Setbacks have also been a part of this journey but through it all I continue forward and persevere.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
LOaD BREED is a music label marketing firm as well as an artist development, management, audio and visual entity as a collective. We are known for creating timeless music and enlightening listeners through melodic jams. What sets us apart from others are that these artists are hand-picked based on their creativity, passion, and love for the art. What makes me most proud is being able to watch the growth of each artist, not only musically but as an individual, some of these guys are motivated to go back to school and receive degrees simply because they have watched my journey. We are willing to work with anyone that is focused and not consumed with nonsense, Growth is essential.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I would say that my childhood was a complex one, so I am sure that there were some good times that would have outweighed the bad but I can’t think of any off-hand.
