Today we’d like to introduce you to A.J. Horan.
Creators of Union 16 Salon A.J. Horan and Joey Grizzard opened the doors of Union16 4 years ago. Union 16 Salon started out in the bustling neighborhood of Inman Park/Old Fourth Ward. With the expansion of our diverse, creative and extremely talented team, they outgrew our space within StudioPex.

Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely it has not been a smooth road. Often many times in life we are presented with several hurdles and the success thus far has been no different. Choosing the right business partners and team prove time and time again to be the correct formula for success. Union 16 has been a roller coaster of excitement, my partner Joey Grizzard and I have been constantly collaborating ideas to make that road a smoother ride.
How would you describe the type of kid you were growing up?
Personality wise A.J. was extremely creative and curious. Always wondering how hair color worked and how it was possible to change ones look within the snip of a shear or mix of a color formula. He has always been interested in the hair industry, AJs sister is actually in the industry as well. During the younger years, AJ would watch and take everything his sister was learning and store it knowing that he too one day would take the plunge into the hair industry.
Is there a specific memory from when you were younger that you really miss?
One of the best and more memorable moments from his childhood would be experimenting with hair color when my sister was in beauty school. He was her experiment in the making while she completed her journey through beauty school.
What are your plans for the future?
The future is bright and unknown, much like the hair industry the trends change and evolve. The salon is my main focus currently. Growing, building an unstoppable team and just perfecting our craft as a stylist.
