Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermaine Jackson.

Hi Jermaine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Well, originally me and my wife are high school sweethearts from Mobile, Alabama and moved to Birmingham, AL to attend college. We moved to GA in 2009 with no jobs and only a few months living expenses. I’d recently graduated from UAB with a degree in social work but jobs were scarce in Alabama so we decided to try and make it in a city we loved to visit previously, Atlanta. We were able to secure jobs, and I worked as a social worker for just over 10 years. I loved working with children and helping strengthen families with Family and Children Services but ultimately I felt that the job was high stress and low pay. I decided to get certified in home inspection services after growing fond of house flipping and renovations. Yes, I wanted to be a general contractor but while learning more and more about it, I was introduced to the world of home inspections. I worked as a home inspector in the day and moon lighted as a child protective services investigator at night for a few years.

Yes, we worked nights. We were actually open 24 hours and you’d be surprised how many doors I had to knock on at 3 and 4 am, lol. I didn’t get much sleep those days. That’s past me now, I was able leave my social worker position after 10 years in February of 2020. Then COVID hit! I left my job a little prematurely because I wanted to be self-employed and had high expectations for my company. Like most Americans, I didn’t expect Covid to cause everything to shut down. With prayers, and the support of my wife, friends, family, and even customers, we were able to bounce back and are doing well. We ended the year better than we started in 2020. Atlanta’s real estate market is on fire now, I think mostly due to the Feds lowering the rates this past fall. I try to think of Get It Done as a new take on the traditional home inspection company. We use technology like drones, and Bluetooth enable Radon detectors as well as other gadgets. We understand the evolution of social media marketing and the impact it having on businesses and consumers.

We try to keep our prices low to help the poor, working, and middle class as we know buying homes are a necessity for getting ahead in society but obtaining a home can be stressful and expensive. We pride ourselves with our worry free promise, which basically means if you buy an inspection from us the first time, if for any reason that deal or house falls through, we’re here to help and will offer between 30% to 50% off your next booked inspection. We are in the midst of re-evaluating our every 5th small house is free promotion as well. Yes, I love inspecting homes so much, I’m willing to do it for free! So, every 5th customer that has a home 1000 square feet or smaller, the general home inspection will be free. It’s our way of helping those that buy starter homes in order to avoid paying high renting rates. I have a business partner, Calvin Robins, that I hope to get back out to inspecting but work was so scarce, he started taking on construction jobs. The ultimate goal is financial freedom, create a company that my kids can call their own someday, and create jobs for others as we grow and expand. We eventually want to expand to Birmingham, because everything is so spread out in GA that I might as well drive to Birmingham so I can see my old city, and grandfather’s city when he was alive.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve had struggles with growing the company and obtaining a livable wage at times. I’m not ashamed to say that I have done several “gig” jobs like Grub hub, Uber, Bunji, and even Instacart, etc. I have a hustler’s spirit so I got to do what I have to take care of my family.

I love the diversity, the culture, and the aura of the city. I dislike the crime and the continued violence. Many young people are losing their lives whether they are taking someone else’s’ or ending theirs and losing their freedom. That has impact on the victims and the perpetrators and must come to an end.
