Conversations with Naeema Finley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Naeema Finley.

Hi Naeema, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi my name is Naeema Finley I am a passionate mother of two beautiful girls, and dream chaser and a serial entrepreneur. I own my own natural hair salon in Atlanta Georgia. I’ve had my own business for over 20 years I have won multiple awards. I am listed as Curlie Girlz Rock Salon’s top 10 natural hair salon in the entire metro area Atlanta area. In my space, I enjoy consulting motivating others who want to create businesses to become successful entrepreneurs. I travel and enjoy the world I am a self-proclaimed foodie and enjoy creating vision boards and also smoking cigars and meeting new people in the Cigar culture all over the world. I enjoy being a Cigar ambassador and a cigar influencer for multiple companies all over the world. Originally from Las Vegas Nevada divorce of two children decided to find love in Atlanta, the stereotype that was spoke of a majority of the time I was almost was discouraged to move here to Atlanta. I was introduced to the cigar culture in a way to meet new people and also being around men that had the same hobby in collecting cigars and also enjoying them as well smoking cigars.

I started motivating other women to come out and explore the Cigar community it had a lot to offer new business prospects, finding a husband or boyfriend. And meeting new girlfriends who became best friends and family it was a way for me to break out in Atlanta and really enjoy myself and also I have someone to do it with. I became a Cigar influencer I have encouraged other men and women all over the world to smoke cigars and I get paid for it it’s the best. A serial entrepreneur as I said at the beginning I am really enjoying myself in Atlanta. A thriving salon encouraging women and men to go completely natural and try healthier way for their hair to grow and become healthy. I also built a brand, Skin Ships Cigars to help influence people to smoke cigars a way to relax and meet new people it’s a beautiful thing. How did I get into the beauty industry I have a grandmother that basically set an entrepreneur platform for her whole entire family as I was growing up learning how to build a business growing my business and making sure that the customers are happy. I would owe it all to her she is who inspired me to become an entrepreneur. Moving from Las Vegas 11 years ago divorce mother of two leaving a toxic relationship, which was no longer healthy for me or my children to be around. I stepped out on faith and built an empire.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Stepping out on faith, I would have to say it was a very smooth transition when I look back on the obstacles that I thought. It really just made me wiser and a stronger woman who really knows what she wants. I would say my obstacles made me a better person with God on my side it went pretty fast and smooth doors, basically. I would have to say my toughest challenge would be the cutthroat part of the industry. Convincing people that chemical-free hair is the only way to go.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Over the last ten years or so there has been a resurgence in “Natural” Hairstyles. No longer are black women entering the salon and requesting “press and curls” or touchups for their hair. They are demanding that we treat their hair and it in natural state and continue to make them beautiful. I absolutely love it! What I have discovered however, is that many women do not know how to take care of their hair because for so long it has been in a chemical state.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First, my grandmother who got me in the beauty industry, second, I would have to say my sister, who encouraged me to step away from doing chemical hair and going into spreading to the word about natural hair and my mom for making sure that she was always my number one cheerleader and pushing me to conquer my dreams dream.
