Hidden Gems: Meet Gayle Bates of Piano Keys for Christ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gayle Bates.

Hi Gayle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Piano Keys for Christ October 2008 teaching piano lessons due to the recession and job situations. I prayed to God for an answer for leading me and guide me through because I couldn’t find a job worth going to. I started off with two students’ mobile dedicated weekly to them to make ends meet.

In 2020 I got Covid-19 and was real sick, not knowing what to do with my business because I had to shut down due to my illness. As of today, 2021 and due the pandemic, Piano Keys for Christ have reached to 95 students. I thank God for all he has done.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth road to teach on Zoom and not in the studio because people were not coming out and was afraid to be around people.

We’ve been impressed with Piano Keys for Christ, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Piano Keys for Christ was a name that God revealed to me. I am the piano instructor and have taught over 700 – 800 students since 2008. I am on social media everyday to brand my business and it really worked. I teach all ages and adults from 3 and up; I have truly been blessed because Piano Keys for Christ is also by word of mouth for referrals. I have people sign up and they would never ask me can I play. That amazing to me.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The only credit that I have had is The Almighty God. He showed me every step of the way. I prayed daily to lead and guide me throughout. God has done everything for me.
