Today we’d like to introduce you to Tremagne McCluskey.
Growing up, I have always had a strong relationship with my Heavenly Father (Jesus Christ); through that relationship, I wanted to serve and minister, but not as a pastor of a church. I can’t sing, so I knew that was not an option. (LOL) One day, while I was scrolling Instagram, I saw a young black man that was BOLD for Christ. I don’t remember his message, but the energy was electrifying and I knew at that moment it was my time! Soon after, I was obedient and started studying TD Jakes.
In 2018, I married my wife, Shaina. I was working as an Assistant Store Manager and had 4 sons from previous relationships; Tremagne Jr., Trevagne, Kwan, & Princeton and a daughter, Taylor. While I was excited to start a new beginning, my credit score was low, I was behind on my mortgage, child support orders and no money in my account. My wife was established, had good credit, a nice savings and a budding fitness brand, Barre Booty Beats. These variables pushed me to start telling my story publicly because I knew others would benefit from my testimony. I was scared and financially broke but I prayed daily without ceasing. Telling my story became a form of therapy for me, I no longer felt the need to live beyond my means or flex a lifestyle that I truly could not afford to maintain. My testimony could help others searching for Christ.
On August 22nd, 2018, I dropped my 1st video with my daughter Taylor. 2nd Corinthians 4:16-18. ” Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly, we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we focus our eyes not on what is seen but on what is unseen, since what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. The rest is history.
Hi Tremagne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for garments, dressing, clothes, attire, suits, trends, etc. I grew up with humble beginnings, and my parents did everything they could to provide me. Most of my clothes came from Citi Trends, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and Old Navy through layaway. Due to this, I can remember remixing the same outfits to make it look different. I had one pair of Jordan’s my entire life as a kid. I got them from my cousin’s boyfriend, he gave them to me as hand me downs, I begged him for them. All of this motivated me to learn how to be resourceful and use what I had. This was the beginning of me becoming a stylist, designer, tailor in the making, LOL. I thank God for this! As an adult, my first tailored suit was from Connoisseur Paris for my cousin’s wedding. My second suit was from Miguel Wilsons’ Collection. I was amazed at the precision and the attention to detail by both of these amazing artists, and I love the way the threads made me feel. I knew I could dress prior to this, but the suits gave a different feeling!
After my wedding, I started purchasing Miguel Wilson suits every time I received a bonus. Every time I went, God kept saying you can do this, you can do this!!!!! This is your calling and gift. I made a mental sketch on those visits and told myself that I’m going to do this one day. Not really believing in myself. Shortly after that my cousin Ayuna Gaines from Heavenly Lashed called me and asked where I got my suits,I shared Miguel’s contact information. She called me back and said I love his work but definitely out of my budget. At that moment, a still voice came to me and said you do it, Tre. Quickly I responded without thinking, “cuz I’ll find him something,”I did not know how to take measurements, alter or tailor at the time, but I knew how to pick out garments and play with the color schemes. So I sent her some prototypes of suits that night. My wife and I stayed up until midnight finding suits. The first suit was from a credit purchase from Kohls. This was the start of something Big ThreadsbyTre!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth No!!! LOL. My content comes from my personal life and my surrounding family friends, so I usually use my pain or theirs to create content. I’m a soldier for Christ so I don’t mind, LOL! Plus, it’s my way of serving Christ.
Threads By Tre has been smooth outside of the normal returns or mixing up orders from moving too fast, nothing customer service can’t fix. This is why I feel very blessed because people always tell me how they struggled to get their business off the ground I have not. My secret sauce is Jesus and prayer. It always works out!!!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
For Testimonial Tre, I record videos and 1 -2 min sermons online from pain and hurt. Most of my followers are everyday workers and street guys who need a word to get through the day. I am known for keeping it flat and cutthroat sermons! Keeping it 100! I say the things people are scared to say and show. My relatability separates me from others. I can relate to Corporate America or homeless people.
In Threads By Tre, I specialize in suits, styling, tailoring and trendy wear. I call them EGO boosters, LOL! I am most proud of how I started with a little faith and believing in God and in myself. It’s true it only takes faith as a mustard seed. Outside of that, the smile and the admiration of my clients once the threads are on their body, women and men.
What sets me apart is my customer service. I build relationships and synergy with all my clients. Not to mention, these threads are HEAT!!!! My motto is “STYLE THE WORLD.”
