Conversations with Jaida Pryce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaida Pryce.

Hi Jaida, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After high school, I started becoming more fond of nails and hair. Everything that I know about natural hair and nails I taught and learned myself. I would always find myself on Google, or YouTube, or Instagram looking for more information on how to do the services I wanted to offer, step by step. Then I would go out and buy whatever was needed. I remember when I first started doing nails, I didn’t even have clients or lay acrylic just yet but I went and invested $350 on my nail supplies. My boyfriend and my mother and my late sister RIP🤎 were my biggest supporters when it came to me trying to start a business, it doesn’t matter what it was I wanted to offer they were always down to model it for me. Without the support and love that I’ve gotten from them, I don’t think I would be where I am now, starting Paul Mitchell The School – Atlanta.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, I have had those days like every other new business owner, wanting to give up because you aren’t getting clients or because I feel like can’t do something. In 2020, I lost one of my older sisters (22) to Covid, and it absolutely broke my heart. She left behind her very handsome son who is now 4y.o but was 2y.o when she passed. It did put me in a dark space for a while but I knew that I couldn’t be in that same spot for too long. She would want me to keep going, and so I did.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Professional Loctician specializing in loc health, loc reconstruction, loc maintenance, I also promote hair growth. I am known for having growing hands, any head I put my hands in WILL GROW.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be when we were staying in Hartford, Connecticut (birthplace) with my grandfather, the entire family was together. My four sisters, my grandpa and mother and pets were all under one roof. Family time was the absolute best, we’d be outside playing on the swing sets and getting chased by our sweet pit baby Mia.
