Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Upshaw.
Hi Tiffany, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was originally raised in Columbus, GA (about 1.5 hours outside of Atlanta). I moved to the Atlanta area at age 23, approximately 12 years ago with a goal of obtaining my marketing degree in fashion with my 2-year-old daughter. While working on obtaining my degree, I landed a job as a bartender in a popular club in east Atlanta. While there over ten years serving liquor, I became more interested in the effects of toxins that we drink, eat, and inhale daily. I also became more involved in my physical, emotional, and mental health. Shortly after, I began my quest to become knowledgeable about my health, herbal health/remedies and also became knowledgeable on the practices of the late great Dr. Sebi.
Through my journey, I picked up the practices of Buddhism, meditation, the health benefits of sea moss, and aromatherapy. I became certified in aromatherapy in 2020 and then became a sea moss retailer. Shortly after, I got my certifications for waxing, teeth whitening, and detoxing and open my detox salon now know known as “Freak of Nature Detox Studio” in Stonecrest, GA. Later on, I added massaging lymphatic massaging and also became a waist trainer and faja retailer.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Of course, it hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a small business in a pandemic was not favorable AT ALL, but luckily the pandemic prompt people to take their health more serious. Society began to question modern medicine like vaccines and even the FDA in the wake of COVID. My clients turned to me as a liaison to herbal health remedies like sea moss, black seed oils, rosemary, detoxes, and also weight loss regimens. The last two years have been crazy, but I believe favorable for me and I am thankful for every client that received services or made a purchase from Freak of Nature thus far.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am classified as a certified detox and aromatherapy specialist. At the detox studio, I do full body waxing, vajacials (facial for your intimate area), foot detoxes, yoni steams, teeth whitening, and massage/lymphatic massaging. At the studio I sale surgical garments, sea moss, and postop care boxes for those who have recently undergone cosmetic procedures, i.e breast augmentation, BBL, etc. It makes it a little easier on my girls going through surgical aftercare because I am a one-stop shop. I am most known for magically cutting inches off my client’s waist naturally or after cosmetic procedures the healthy and safe way. My counterparts call me the waist doctor and I quickly adopted the name. Just call me the queen of snatch!

People are normally surprised when they find I practice Buddhism. It’s normally a long-drawn-out conversation because most are confused that Buddhism is a religion when it’s actually building block practices, you learn to obtain a more peaceful lifestyle.
