Exploring Life & Business with Nicole Houser of Renewed Beauty & Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Houser.

Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am simply “a woman who believed she could, so she did”. Faith, determination and support are what fuel my belief and passion for success. I am the proud owner of Renewed Beauty & Spa a black-owned, woman-owned and veteran-owned business located in the city of Warner Robins, Georgia. I am originally from Hopkinsville, Kentucky but I’m also a Georgia Peach because my father’s family is from Macon.

The United States Air Force was my ticket out of Kentucky, I left home when I was 18 years old and served our country for 20 years and three months. I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world and gain skills in leadership, office management, and logistics operations. I always thought I would retire and start a second career as a civil servant. Little did I know my vision would change once I got a taste of entrepreneurship towards the end of my career. At that point I decided I wanted to go hard for myself. So here we are!

I spend my days serving an amazing team of beauty professionals and some great clients. I am also currently enrolled in the Esthetics program at Beaver Beauty Academy located in Decatur. Attending this program has opened my eyes so much and I am blessed to be able to bring this knowledge back to Renewed Beauty & Spa.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every journey is bound to have some bumps and even detours along the way. Mine has been no exception, there have been days that I wanted to give up because I was frustrated, scared, sad, hurt or just plain tired. If you know me then you know giving up is not an option, I may have to adapt or adjust but one thing about me is I’m not going to give up. In those moments I take time to reset and refocus. I go back to my vision and purpose and I keep moving.

The biggest challenge on this journey has been handling personnel issues. At one point, things were really uncomfortable because I watched my whole business go through a transition. I questioned myself and some of the decisions made but I never questioned what I believed. I just kept moving, then I started to attract people who aligned with my vision. They had their own personal vision and individual goals but had the desire to help move the vision of Renewed Beauty & Spa forward. Our team really is amazing! They motivate me, they support me and they encourage me on a daily basis. Not only do they push me to be better, they push themselves and they allow me to pour into them. We are constantly watering each other’s flowers and encouraging one another to reach our goals.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Renewed Beauty & Spa is Middle Georgia’s hidden gem. Our goal is to provide a luxury spa experience, catering to our guests and leaving them feeling renewed from head to toe. We are a place where beauty, knowledge, and personalized services combine to create a memorable and refreshing experience. We are your friends, sisters, homegirls, and most importantly your beauty and wellness consultants.

Our vision is to bring out the beauty within you while empowering women and creating a culture of growth. Our staff consists of beauty professionals who are experienced in hair care, skincare, body treatments, hand and foot care. We offer a wide range of therapeutic services designed to relax, pamper and improve your well-being. Renewed Beauty & Spa is one of the top spas in Warner Robins, and we’re ready to renew you!

We have an extensive service menu that includes but is not limited to natural and chemically treated hair, loc maintenance, braids, color, manicures, pedicures, artificial nail enhancements, facials, body treatments and waxing. We also host private events, spa dates and spa parties.

Our mission sets us apart from others because we focus on building enduring and rewarding relationships with our clients and the community through knowledge, wellness, and superior service. We want you to know that you are family once you decide to partner with us to meet your wellness goals.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Yes, find someone who is where you want to be and study them. Find out about their history, their daily routines, and what kind of goals they have. See who their mentors are and find out what they do for personal and professional development. Anytime I come across someone that impresses me I look them up and I see what they did to get where they are. I try to find their starting point (the bottom) because I want to see their story. I also attend sessions or events that they have (sometimes that means paying a little money). You cannot be afraid to invest in yourself, one of the best things I’ve done was participate in a mastermind called the Business Bakery with one of my mentors Dr. Sheva Quinn. She was blunt and she pushed me to do things that were very uncomfortable. I learned so much and I was able to apply everything she told me to my business as long as I was willing to do the work.
