Today we’d like to introduce you to Apostle LaWanda Peters.
Hi Apostle LaWanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you VoyageATL for the opportunity to share my story. I began the journey of a lifetime in 1994, as I surrendered unto God wholeheartedly. I was licensed and ordained as an Elder in 1997 and after many years of serving and training as an Associated Pastor. God spoke very clearly that the time has come for me to go forth in my calling as a Prophet to the nations. I came out of tradition to transition! I have experienced the mountain tops and valleys of a remarkable life thus far, with many more dynamic chapters in store. My testimony is one that simply demonstrates the presence and favor of a higher power. Having experienced many swift transitions in life, such as divorce, homelessness, broken relationships, low self-esteem, rejection, abandonment, and physical abuse. Those experiences have allowed me to emerged as a powerful woman who humbly operates in the capacities of ministry, entrepreneurship, and an author with four books under my belt. I am known for my “Reckless Faith.” because I truly know what it is to have to trust God and him alone. Which is why I minister restoration, healing and deliverance to those who are hurting, lost and rejected. It’s not until you have gone through the fire and come out that you can minister to others in supernatural power that yields true healing and deliverance. I am a builder and I believe in lifting others up by testifying about how the Lord delivered me from destruction. God has empowered me to minister to many women and men alike. I know what it is to have much, while I know what it is to yet have nothing; I know what it is to be stripped of everything that you have, from houses, cars, businesses, and finances but yet, be built back up on nothing but the foundation of Jesus Christ.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road with many struggles along the way. Every obstacle, challenge, test, trial and tribulation I am grateful for. I know firsthand that had I not gone through and experienced what I have, I would not be able to help others. Having lost three successful businesses, experienced two failed marriages at an early age, raising two kids as a single parent, sleeping on floors and living with strangers, having it all and losing it, I know what it is to have lost and recover all. I am a Domestic Violence Survivor, God delivering me from an abusive marriage where I suffered a broken nose, foot, ruptured vessels in my lip, and almost losing my child at five months from abuse. I am extremely passionate about domestic abuse, and God uses me to share my life-changing testimony to help others come out and be free. Being a woman in ministry and business, we face many challenges that some of our male counterparts do not. Although Christ invited women into his ministry, the church itself has not always agreed about what this should look like. Having been in ministry 25 years overall, 19 years as a Pastor/Overseer with no set salary in place, while maintaining a household, two kids, traveling three hours one way to Pastor at Faith & Deliverance Prophetic Ministries, Dawson, GA. Has taught me the true meaning of WALKING BY FAITH AND NOT BY SIGHT.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder of a trailblazing women’s organization, Gathering of the Girls. The owner of LYP Service, a boutique that represents class and excellence. During the pandemic, I launched my pride and joy Anointed Aromas, an all natural organic hand-poured candle company. I have been a guest on several TV programs, TBN, TV57 and have been featured in several articles. In 2015, I was awarded the Black Essence Award for being a great leader in the community & for my dedicated service in ministry. In 2016, I was honored by Sheen Magazine’s I Love My Pastor, and in 2017 honored to be the Face Of A Survivor recipient by No Longer The Face Foundation. I travel the world extensively with the objective to encourage, inspire, and impact the lives of those I come in contact with. I am a Motivational Speaker, Spiritual Life Coach, and Mentor that operates with integrity, compassion, class and style.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice as it pertains to finding a Mentor is to REALLY pray! There’s a lot of amazing Mentors out there, but you don’t want amazing, you want a mentor that’s best for you, keeping in mind where you’re going in life and where you are in life. Seek God through prayer, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you, understanding that a Mentor is NOT your friend, but they’re someone who has your best interest at heart, who’s not afraid to deal with the areas that you might not want anyone to touch. They’re there to help you, and help requires transparency and vulnerability. Find someone who has been healed AND delivered in areas that you’re trying to overcome. Someone who’s transparent and honest.
What has worked for me as far as networking more than anyone honestly is word of mouth and YouTube videos. It’s usually someone who has attended a conference, webinar, or purchased products from me, who tells others about me, my brand/ministry.
