Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Liechty.
Hi Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My career in aesthetics has truly come full circle. About 20 years ago I took a short break from college and became an aesthetician working in the spa industry. I had been torn between loving science and math and also loving the beauty industry. So this was a natural choice while I took time to decide on my degree choice for college. I eventually pursued a career in nursing as I knew it was such a versatile path and would satisfy my love of science and helping others. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Kennesaw State University and began working in the hospital in cardiac care. Always wanting to push myself further, I began graduate studies in 2009 at Georgia State University and completed a Master in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner degree in 2012. I continued in cardiology as a Nurse Practitioner for several years but always missed the creative beauty world.
In 2017 I had the chance opportunity to be offered a part-time position as an aesthetic injector with a local medical spa. I did this part-time in addition to my full-time position in cardiology at Emory University. I absolutely fell in love again with the aesthetic industry and was thrilled to find a career path that encompassed my love of science and medicine with the creative and fun side of aesthetics. I continued working in both fields for another year and took a leap of faith in 2018 to pursue injecting full-time. I attended every training opportunity and every conference in the industry that I could in order to become the best injector I could be. Having worked in academic medicine, I know the value of continuing education and staying at the forefront of your field.
Since 2019 I have been injecting for a plastic surgery practice. First with Marietta Facial Plastics and now with The Swan Center for Plastic Surgery. My continued passion for learning, education, and staying at the top of my game means I continue to attend every training, conference and cadaver anatomy lab I can. I have had the privilege of training under some of the best plastic surgeons and injectors in the business. Although this is a hybrid field at the intersection of medicine and beauty, it is still medicine. That means it is not to be taken lightly and patient safety should be the number one priority. It is a fast-moving field with new products, techniques and treatments coming available all the time. So when choosing your provider for injectables keep in mind their education level, experience, ongoing education and passion for the industry.
I pride myself in providing excellent, safe patient care and great results. My favorite thing to do is provide full-face treatment so everything blends and looks seamless. My aesthetic is very natural and I prefer to give a refreshed you, but only better look. And if a patient comes in seeking results, I cannot give them with injectables, I am very honest and refer them for surgical consultation, laser treatments or whatever else that I cannot provide. I want to make sure they get the results they deserve.
My passion for injecting and education has also allowed me the opportunity to become a trainer for injectables. In 2021 I joined JC Aesthetics Training, founded by Jenn Cobbs PA-C. Here I work with Jenn Cobbs PA-C and Madison Holmes FNP-C offering trainings for licensed medical professionals that are seeking to learn how to inject or to learn new techniques. This keeps me on my toes as I cannot teach what I do not understand.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has not been a smooth road. Breaking into the plastic surgery and injecting field is incredibly difficult. As you can see, I took a winding course from aesthetician to RN to cardiac NP to plastic surgery NP/Injector. It took working two jobs, going to grad school, and continuing to push myself with ongoing education to get where I am today. I almost gave up a couple of times, but am so glad I stuck with it and pursued my passion.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and work in the field of plastic surgery. I am a full-time injector for The Swan Center for Plastic Surgery. This means I inject neuromodulators, aka Botox/Dysport/Xeomin and dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, RHA, Sculptra and Radiesse. These products can improve lines, wrinkles, lost volume, change contours and enhance areas of the face and sometimes the body as well.
I am proud of my passion for this field, my pursuit of continuing education to stay as safe, advanced, and up to date in the industry as I can.
I believe my genuine care for the patient, their safety, their goals, improving their confidence and my honesty about what results can and cannot be achieved with injectables is something that sets me apart.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Perseverance and drive are two of the biggest qualities I credit for my success. In everything I do, I try to be and do my best. This career path has certainly tested me, but I keep moving forward and am grateful to do so.
