Meet Courtney Guthrie of Peachy Keen Weddings in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Guthrie.

Courtney, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I got into weddings with my family 12 years ago. I helped my mother start a wedding venue in Buford, Ga and did weddings in Buford for about 6 years. Everything I know and how I got my start, began and came from my mother. I loved our Simple Gatherings weddings and those are some of my favorite weddings and memories.

My mother, unfortunately, passed away from a terminal illness and after she passed away, I looked for a way to do weddings outside of where I started. In 2010 I started Peachy Keen Weddings and have been growing and expanding ever since. Last year we did 80 weddings and this year we hope to do more. I have done weddings in Atlanta, North Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina and soon South Carolina. We mainly do weddings in and around Atlanta, Decatur, and Marietta. We offer wedding planner and floral services for small and large weddings.

Has it been a smooth road?
I would say it ultimately has been a smooth road. There have been some growing pains with each year, but we work through them and my team is stronger than ever. You have to love what you do and I always get so excited for each of my clients and have been enjoying the journey.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Peachy Keen Weddings story. Tell us more about the business.
Peachy Keen Weddings is a wedding planner and floral service company. We specialize in weddings and all things wedding related. We assist clients as much as possible or as little as possible with their wedding planning and floral needs. I am most proud of the ability to customize things for each of our clients. Everything we do is custom and we strive to make sure each of our clients days is special.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Our industry is changing because people have the ability to do more things themselves than ever before and we have to evolve with that. I feel an important aspect of my job is communicating with clients what things normally work and what things do not work in the “DIY” realm of wedding planning/decorating.

We also customize planning packages and decor estimates to meet the needs of clients that maybe don’t need us to do it all, but we are always more than happy to be there to do it all for those that need that service.
