Today we’d like to introduce you to Rod Williams.
Rod, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey started after I graduated high school in 1999. While all of my friends started college, I opted to go straight into the workforce with a full-time job. After 11 years on my job at Yamaha, I resigned and became a full-time real estate agent. Being a real estate agent sounds like a cool career presently but I became an agent in 2010, in the middle of the recession when times were much harder and banks weren’t lending as much so the housing market was at an all-time low. Before real estate, I briefly worked as an artist manager for an independent record label in Atlanta. My stint in artist management was short lived once I became frustrated dealing with the politics of the music industry. During that time I met a guy who would become my real estate mentor and gave me the idea to get into real estate. 6yrs after getting started in real estate, I’m now ranked the #2 agent out of 1800 agents in my company. My volume in 2015 surpassed 10 million in sales.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. As previously stated I started in real estate in the middle of the recession at a time when financial institutions were going under and lending requirements were strict so many buyers didn’t qualify to purchase.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and career?
None. I don’t believe in luck. Faith, hard work, and dedication have been my biggest attributes.
Is there a quality or characteristic that has played an outsized role in your success?
My commitment to providing excellent customer service.
Tell us about your favorite and least favorites things about our city.
I love the diversity and hospitality of the city of Atlanta. The parks, neighborhoods, festivals, and nightlife are all reasons to never want to leave. Unfortunately, the traffic has been the biggest dislike about our city.
