Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirt and Elisa Reimschisel.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
We wanted to buy a business to invest in our future and the future of our three children. The advice of a friend and several years of research later prompted us to purchase Atomic Laundry, a dry cleaners and full service laundromat that offers wash & fold services. We walked into the 40+ year old building and knew it was the right decision. We bought the business in April 2015, coming up on 3 years and never looked back. Our mission was to learn the inner workings of a dry cleaners/laundromat from repairing washing machines to deciphering between laundering and dry cleaning items. Elisa has a fashion background and Kirt works in the finance side of the auto industry. Even though this venture was new to us, our past work experience in customer service was not. Customer service is a priority and it is carried through by our employees, Batul, James, and Robert. We compare our business to “Cheers” where everyone knows your name. We adore our customers and value the support they have for us. They are, in a lot of ways, like our extended family. We strive to ensure that they have the best possible experience from start to finish. Whether they are dropping off dry cleaning, entrusting us to wash and fold their clothes, or assisting with the coin laundry. The business is growing at a healthy rate due to referrals, word of mouth and the quality we provide. We are always pursuing ways to improve and grow the business and continue to focus on making our customers the #1 priority.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. When we bought the business, there were several updates that needed to be made immediately. We replaced the “old style, top load” washers with new, state of the art equipment. We purchased five new washers; four 20 lbs. and one 60 lbs. washer. The new 20 lbs. washers are RO washers (reverse osmosis). The water is constantly being filtered throughout the entire cleaning process. The 60 lbs. and 50 lbs. washers are awesome for large loads, comforters, blankets, dog beds, etc. In addition, the restroom needed remodeling. The most important repair was “fixing” the business. We have worked very hard rebuilding our customer base due to previous circumstances out of our control.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Atomic Laundry – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are essentially a one stop shop when it comes to cleaning. We are a full service dry cleaners and laundromat offering wash and fold services. Our services also include alterations, leather, suede, rug and tapestry cleaning. We take pride in servicing our customers and assisting them at all levels. Everyone in our community will need our services at one time or another and we want to be here to help. For example, there are quite a few customers who come in due to their washer and/or dryer being out of commission, house renovations or flooding. This can be a very emotional challenge so we are compassionate and assuring to our customers that we are here to take care of their needs. For our new customers utilizing the laundromat, that may be too shy to ask for help, we try to constantly ask if anyone needs assistance. Most of them appreciate us taking the initiative. We want our customers to experience a clean and neat environment. For convenience, we provide free Wi-Fi, coffee, and updated magazines. We are proud that we can greet many of our regular customers by name and will usually have their clothing or order ready and waiting for them.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The diversity, friendliness and support of the community. We could do without so much traffic on the roads.
