Check Out Sulonda Smith’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sulonda Smith.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At six, I was solving adult problems. “You’re an old soul,” they’d say. For most of my life, I’ve helped people through conversations. From childhood through adolescence, being the peacemaker to earning a Master’s Degree in Counseling, I m all in everyone’s business – in a good way. Counseling clients included children, teens, young adults, severely mentally challenged individuals, couples, LBGTQ, and men.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Most of what I envision manifests. I haven’t had many struggles. Where some people might have struggles, I consider them opportunities to learn more and expand my toolbox to manage life’s lineup of lessons. As I expand from learning, I’m also like a sponge absorbing as much as possible. I have a capacity, so I don’t burn out because I can focus on my natural gifts and build skills where I am most helpful!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I share what I know and change lives as a consultant and a speaker. I have two main areas of interest and passion: working with men and relationships, particularly with different generations of people, gender identity, and men & women. These subgroups work together, move around each other every day, and have problems understanding each other and communicating effectively. I’ve been called the “Communication Ninja” and “The Interpreter” by clients. It might sound cliche-ish. However, it’s how I feel. I set myself apart from others by seeing everyone as a creation of life, treating them with respect, knowing everyone is here sharing one primary goal – to survive and thrive. I am most proud of helping people find peace and happiness and ending suffering.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Being ready for anything means you don’t have concrete expectations. I’ve learned that many expectations are linked to feelings or desired outcomes that wasn’t told to the person associated with the outcome. When you can only see something happening in one way, you miss out on extraordinary experiences.
