Today we’d like to introduce you to Ché Echols.
Hi Ché, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m not from Atlanta, but Atlanta is where my creative side was born. When I moved to the area, I didn’t know much. Being from San Antonio, Texas, I wasn’t raised in the most creative environment. Nor did I have peers or mentors that lived the lifestyle I currently do. Atlanta has been the biggest blessing for me as a black man and as a creative. I consider myself a student, model, and actor. Each of these aspects are a huge part of my identity. Being a student introduced me to local models which helped me get signed to an agency and allowed me to explore acting. I don’t have the biggest following, I’m not signed to the biggest agency, and I haven’t been in the biggest movies… yet. But I’m on my way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for me. Balancing my creative life and school has been the most difficult aspect. Going to school and making time for photo shoots, auditions, and rehearsals is hard but it’s even more difficult to do it while being a premed student. On top of that, I started school and modeling right before covid. But that’s just life and as a creative, I think it is these obstacles that make you as a person and your story more appealing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I dabble in a little bit of everything. I am a model, I am a student, I am an actor, I have business endeavors and I work in a lab. What I’m currently most known for is modeling. I was signed by my current agency three years ago and I have appeared in tv shows, music videos, plays, fashion shows, ads, articles, magazines, campaigns, etc. I’ve been building up a resume and some big things are coming soon.
Any big plans?
I’m not one to talk about things before they come, so I’ll leave you with this: remember the name Che. It’s small. Only three letters, and it’s not very common, but Lord willing, soon it will be bigger than I could have imagined.
