Today we’d like to introduce you to Domonick Jones.
Hi Domonick, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Newport News, VA but as a kid growing up I grew up in Gwinnett County, GA which is a drastic difference and change in environment. This fueled my ambition because even though me and my sisters had enough, it was looking around and seeing that there’s so much more out there. I was very shy and didn’t speak much so I would pay attention so I just tried to grab an understanding of how things worked, who, what, how they made it happen and the one thing I knew was that everything is business centered no matter what profession it’s all business. Therefore I knew that was an area I was interested in at an early age. Fast forward through to college where I’m running my own company as a student at Kennesaw State and it was one of the biggest media outlets on campus at the time which came about by realizing there is no student ran media (this is before bar stool) so there was the problem so I developed a place where we could all share our experiences about Kennesaw through memes, events, news, etc. I had the entire student engagement and I was selling merchandise but I didn’t have the capital to really do much. So I developed an app to bring more of a community presence that in hindsight I didn’t give enough time to grow but again same problem not enough capital to sustain it and I didn’t know exactly how to monetize it fast enough either.
Fast forward again, I graduated with a Business Management Degree and I immediately start working a corporate job I gave away the last business because that life was no longer part of my day to day making it hard to relate. Now I was wrapped up in my job for a few months, I realized this is what often happens to so many people. There are so many talented people that have ambition to make things happen no matter if it’s continuing sports, getting that dream job, or risking entrepreneurship and we let circumstance take away the creative innovation and unique gifts the world needs. So I started one of ones the company to make one off pieces designed by me and one of my friends practically a brother of mine. Most people with a business know ideas can change quickly because you have to adapt and I did just that. Now more focused on the not only the branded element and influence to actually affect lives which is definitely one of the key pieces to the long term run for us. We have begun to focus on bringing an actual community to Atlanta to encourage, increase, and bring value to so many that want to do better but are affected by circumstances.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve had a few struggles along the way from working with others on projects, finding better ways to be more consistent and understanding to be patient is probably the biggest one. Patience allows you to approach problems that are not even problems but a way to improve operations. Nothing’s ever as big of a deal as may seem in the moment. For example, it’s like the capital issue early on I was so young at the time I didn’t see that if I just used that issue and fueled it by being simplistic, transparent, and making due by only releasing one shirt but promoting it over and over and over again. It could’ve done better so being patient and making better decisions instead of the first one was a struggle for sure.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The work I do is very complex the reason being is that although I work full-time as an account manager for a logistics company in Roswell, GA. I run One of Ones Atlanta with a close team that I appreciate. I create content for a hoist of companies which I enjoy. Lastly, my marketing services will be available for everyone this fall as well which I had the experience of working with many of my peers on projects and is my strong suit pertaining to business operations. I believe I am mostly known for the content creation just because I like the feeling of getting something done and being able to show that work off even if it’s a few people or not even my project or audience I’m usually more excited than they are. Also, I work fast when it comes to editing videos so close friends would to send me their videos and be like hey can you edit these for me I want to post it today and I’d have it in the next hour which is a pretty fast turn around. I am probably most known for content creation because of my personal videos on IG which some have gone viral. I am most proud of establishing a market in California and getting people involved through one of ones Atlanta to donate money for the black lives matter social injustice movement in 2020. Execution is probably what sets me apart from others. I believe there’s just a difference in talking about ideas and actually getting things done.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
There is so many ways people can work with me. One of Ones Atlanta is looking for more team members soon that are looking to come into an environment where we encourage creativeness and want everyone to win. Same with collaborations, there is a link on the website to become one of the first members of our private club that will bring so many resources and opportunities for those who can relate to my story and to support me at bare minimum would just be to continue going after those things you know in your mind you would regret not giving it a shot at the end of it all. To go above and beyond would just be to follow us on our socials and check out our store! We appreciate everyone that does anything to support us not just monetary. Also to work with me currently on any project you have or just any questions please dm my personal page on Instagram.
