Today we’d like to introduce you to Milton (360) Cotton.
Milton, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I actually started out as a YouTuber, that’s the real reason why I even bought my camera in the first place. 3 years of being a YouTuber, I decided to test out my camera to take photos instead of videos and it became a hobby that I didn’t even realize I was good at. That turned into an obsession of wanting to learn more about photography and using my creativity to make art and a few months later, it became an everyday thing.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overall it’s been pretty smooth, I’ve been contacted by clothing companies and shot for a few, I’ve also shot signed models and have met some amazing people, but every thing isn’t always gonna be smooth. The typical life of a photographer is models bailing on you, some shoots not going exactly how you vision, some shoots going horribly wrong, others hating on your work, but these are things that EVERY photographer goes through so, I wouldn’t even call these mishaps “struggles”… it just comes with the territory.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about 360 Photography – what should we know?
Basically, I am a freelance photographer, but not your typical one. I am more on the creative side, I appreciate art and I have an eye for being different, strange or weird. I have visions and with the right model pulling off my idea will make some beautiful photos. I am known for shooting at simple places or using simple props and making “cool” pictures out of them! I am most proud at how most people notice my strange way of photography and enjoy them, that means as weird as my ideas are, others still can relate.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I’ve had no mentors so far, I learned how to work a camera and what to do and how to shoot all through YouTube. I taught myself mostly because it became a passion of mine so I’ve been obsessed with learning how to shoot and what to do in certain situations. I’ve approached others for help, but I’m guessing none of them didn’t think I would take this whole photography thing as serious as I have been so far. As far as support, I have only a selected few, my mother, my GF and a friend or two. Of course, I have a following who enjoys what I post but, as far as support and wanting to actually help, that line is very thin. Overall, the support that I do not get is also support to me, I’ve always been an underdog in pretty much ANYTHING that I’ve done in my life, so I take every little thing as motivation.
