Daily Inspiration: Meet Chynelle Brownlee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chynelle Brownlee.

Hi Chynelle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started doing hair in the early 90’s in middle school. About seven years after getting my diploma I decided to enroll in beauty school. I was almost to the finish line and I got pregnant with my 3rd child. I had to take some time off because I had a risky pregnancy. But after my daughter was born, I went right back and finished. I got my license in 2005 and began doing hair in my hometown, South Bend, In. Something was missing though. Wasn’t quite sure what it was at the time but I knew I had to move to find it. Fast forward to now. I reside in Gwinnet County and I’m a successful Luxury Hair and Extension specialist and educator. I have my own hair care products and I have taught over 15 students so far.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Life is the bumpiest road you will ever travel on. Navigating through life as a single parent of three wasn’t easy. On top of that, I enrolled in college part-time to pursue a bachelor’s degree. But through preservation, I received my bachelor’s in 2017 and moved to Georgia.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a master hairstylist and have been working on my crafted over 20 years. I specialize in luxury hair and strand by strand extensions like Itips, Ktips and Micro links. I am proud to say that I have taught 15 students how to make 10k a more a month. The thing that sets me apart from others is I’m not a hairstylist out to just get your money. I actually enjoy helping others feel good about themselves.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe in order to be successful at anything, you must take risks. Taking risks can be uncomfortable. But if you’re too comfortable, then their is no growth. To be successful you have to grow in many areas of your life.
