Rising Stars: Meet Jaylá Cierra

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaylá Cierra.

Hi Jaylá, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a young woman from the small town of Covington, Georgia with bigger dreams in art, business, and creativity. I currently am an uprising beauty and fashion influencer, model, entrepreneur, artist, and business student at the University of Georgia. In the words of the late and great Whitney Houston, “I’m every woman”. As child, I loved to express my creativity and initially picked up an interest in drawing and painting. I studied traditional art in a range of mediums for several years while winning several local art contests and even publishing several pieces. In addition to art, I also grew a passion for beauty and fashion at a young age. I loved exploring new hairstyles and taught myself how to do hair as well as makeup. Additionally, I grew an interest into skincare and started my first business, Essence of Deity, selling quality whipped shea butter and other natural skincare products at the age of 19. From there I have begun sharing my passions online gaining a following as an influencer in both the beauty and fashion realms. I continue my entrepreneurship as I began the journey of launching my own clothing brand, Reincarnated Sense.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely, there has been obstacles, some personal and some that come along with the business. A major obstacle is juggling multiple interests and finding my own path. I always considered myself a jack of all trades having an interest in beauty, art, and fashion. Society always promotes being a master of one or focusing on one interest, yet I want to fully explore all my passions and talents. However, there are limits such as time and effort as there is only 24 hours in a day, so there is an occasional struggle in finding balance, not to mention I’m also a full-time student. Every struggle has made me a stronger and wiser young woman. I know with my faith, family, and resilience I can overcome any issue and will continue to learn and grow each day.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an entrepreneur and micro-influencer. I specialize in everything that relates to art, beauty (makeup and hair), and fashion. I am a self-taught digital and classically trained traditional artist with several published pieces, but typically specialize as a graphite illustrator and painter. Outside of traditional art, I am a beauty and fashion-related influencer that has accumulated a following over 20K. I’m always tapping into new trends and if I can’t find inspiration, I will set the trend myself. Lately, I have been labeled as the original creator on TikTok for wrapping my hair with pantyhose at night to preserve a straight and silky style. I continuously create content as a hair influencer installing and styling wig units. I am often complimented on my hair installs and makeup looks in person and online, so I use my platforms to share my process and tips. We don’t gatekeep over here. Additionally, I have the pleasure to work as a college partner and influencer for Levi’s at the University of Georgia and rocking the latest sustainable clothing and apparel. Along with influencing, I’m known for wearing my art and designing my own clothes. I typically focus on creating streetwear pieces such as patchwork denim and stacked jeans. While I currently take custom orders for clothing pieces, my own brand Reincarnated Sense is launching in Spring 2023.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that comes to surprise about me is that I’m somewhat of a “tomboy”. While I have an interest into beauty and aesthetics, I also have passions considered outside of my niche. I grew up as the only girl amongst brothers and I consider myself a daddy’s girl. My father is a mechanic and taught me the ins and outs of working on cars. I’ve grown a love for muscle cars in which I spend days repairing and getting my hands dirty. I own a 1968 Camaro that I take out to let the engine roar and burn rubber. Who said pretty girls can’t have a bit of fun in a hot rod?
