Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Eliza.
Jordan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started out in the beauty industry by taking every freelance opportunity I could, hair and makeup for commercial, print, weddings and runway. I loved freelance but eventually felt, I was missing the connection of building a lasting relationship with my clients. So, after graduating from Paul Mitchell the School Atlanta, I began working behind the chair at Mariemarie Salon, owned by my best friend, Marie Hansen. After a few years, I was presented with the opportunity to take over ownership of Mariemarie and for the past four years, my husband, Shawn and I, have been the grateful and proud owners. It wasn’t until recently that, I felt my path pointing me in another direction and I came to the tough and bittersweet decision to hand over ownership and go solo. This April, I will be opening my own studio, Jordan Eliza, at the Larkin in Grant Park, where I will be offering haircuts, haircolor and makeup.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, but it has been a good one full of learning and growth. I struggled with myself over decisions I was making, though they have all be done with good intention. Struggles over feeling too spread thin, and making sure to make time for family. The road may not have been smooth, but it’s one I truly value.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Jordan Eliza – what should we know?
Jordan Eliza is a vegan and green salon, with an emphasis on sustainable beauty. I specialize in haircuts that have a lived-in vibe with plenty of movement and texture. My goal is to give you a haircut that will last, grow out well and be easy to style. My haircolor also mirrors the lived-in vibe with organic placement and dimension. I also specialize in balayage, as I am obsessed with French girl beauty and effortless chic. My makeup applications are done with all natural, chemical-free and cruelty-free products.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
One of the most important qualities is being able to listen to and relate with your clients. The consultation prior to doing any service is vital to make sure you are both on the same page and have realistic expectations. It’s also important to take pride in everything that you do and to do all things with good intention.
