Daily Inspiration: Meet Asia Cunningham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Cunningham. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Asia Antoinette Cunningham also known as Asia Antoinette has an impressive acting and modeling portfolio, having been a part of 20 films, two plays, three TV series, and a historical documentary on CNN. In addition to her acting experience, she has also done two modeling segments on “Good Morning Washington”, showcasing the transition from summer to fall and holiday recycled fashion, and an additional modeling segment on Fox 5 Lion Lunch Hour showcasing the Coastal Cowgirl Trend working with the talented Tonia Michelle from October Moon Branding.

Asia is also proud to hold two pageant titles, being crowned Ms. Maryland Royalty International in 2022 and Ms. Maryland All-American in 2023. She also appeared in four commercials.

Born and raised in the Washington DC, DMV, PG County area, Asia has been passionate about acting since she was just five years old. However, her dreams of becoming an actress were hampered by numerous scams encountered during her youth. In February 2021, she finally got her big break when Malik Pollard, CEO of Mad Flavor TV, told her about a movie opportunity. She appeared as a BG in the film “We Go Deep” and it gave her a taste of what it’s like to work in the film industry, which she loved. While on set, she met Paul Jerry and David Tubbs who quickly became her closest friends and introduced her to the right people.

My big sister Keesha Williams Ms. DMV has been an amazing mentor as well as T Styles from “Cartel Publications” and agent Skinny Corleone of “49th Parallel Management”. Asia began taking lessons from her talented and supportive coaches, Mark McKinnon at the “McKinnon Acting Studio” and Percy Thomas from “Amazing Theatre”. Asia also attended workshops with renowned DMV casting director Thea Washington and Models Inc. To maximize her opportunities, she joined several websites such as backstage actors, access casting networks, and dragonukconnects. She even started following casting directors to discover exciting opportunities.

Networking is an essential aspect of success. Asia is known for her soft voice and upbeat, friendly personality. Helping others achieve their dreams is something she is passionate about, and it is a part of her platform.

Asia earned a BA in Communications and an MS in Health and Wellness Coaching, specializing in nutrition, from Marymount University. She is also a certified Integrative Health Coach and a certified minister with the Universal Life Church to officiate weddings. She is an advocate for equal rights and inclusion for the LGBTQ+ community and is also part of the community.

Surrendering her career to God has been a significant factor in her success, and living by these two scriptures that;

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” ~

Jeremiah 29:11 and “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[have been called according to his purpose.” ~ Romans 8:28

Asia looks up to successful people like Taraji P. Henson, Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts, Tyler Perry, and Steve Harvey, who have shown her that anything is possible, even when starting from nothing. She started acting in school and church plays at the age of five and continued to pursue her passion through college and beyond.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy road, and she has faced disappointments but has learned to trust in God and keep pushing forward. Asia was diagnosed with Gastroparesis, a debilitating stomach disease, which has made it challenging to work and socialize at times, but she persevered and surrounded herself with the right support system.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an actress, I specialize in film and theater, and as a model, she specializes in commercial modeling. I also offer production management services for directors and production companies. I write poetry about love, romance, heartbreak, and self-care. I’m an entrepreneur with upcoming projects in entertainment, fashion, and health. What sets me apart from others is my friendly personality, warm spirit, and passion for helping others succeed. I am most proud of my ability to inspire others and help bring their dreams and vision to life.

Success to Asia means establishing her desired goals, accomplishing them, and making them a reality. Follow your dreams by doing what you love, and never give up on your dreams, no matter what, learn through your failures and grow from them. Move in silence and let your success make the noise!
