Hidden Gems: Meet Aset Healing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aset Healing.

Aset Healing

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
If there was one word for my journey, it would be colorful (to say the least). Originally from the Caribbean: Born in Grenada then moved to Trinidad, Jamaica, Panama, Virginia, Texas, D.C, Florida then to Barbados where I spent the majority of my childhood into my teens. I finished secondary school (high school) and moved back to New York to start my modeling career. Through focusing on my modeling career, I was also a bartender, hostess, nanny, cocktail waitress, makeup artist and store manager.

While there was a big part of me that loved the high of “GO! GO! GO!” I eventually got what I call the “inner knock” of spirit saying, “girl, you need to slow ALL the way down!” This lesson was given to me when I tore my rotator cuff on the job. This moment is the moment I said to myself, “Ok, I’m ready to listen.”

I left New York and moved to LA to model and for a change of scenery and energy. This is when I really started to feel such a difference in my body. The pace was slower, relaxed, and there was so much more space for me to breathe and think. I knew that moving to the West Coast was the best decision!

I will never forget this day: I woke up and just gravitated towards my yoga mat. It was such an organic flow of energy. After my yoga and meditation practice, my life changed. I stopped drinking alcohol, became a vegan, continued my daily yoga practice, and deepened my relationship with my body, thus my emotions. This was very telling for me! It was abundantly clear what healing I needed to do on a mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual level. As I began to heal and grow, it became more apparent that I needed to create a version of my own healing process for others.

I became certified as a Yoga Instructor, Life Coach, Reiki practitioner, Spiritual Coach, and Trauma Healer. I then birthed my Holistic Healing Practice: ASET HEALING LLC.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think anything worth receiving and requires work is a smooth road (at least not for me). There were many struggles. Struggling to not fight myself on healing and working through the pain, trauma, discomfort, triggers, and everything that comes with the most challenging yet beautiful job you will ever have: The Self Journey.

Going through the journey of healing from your trauma is a decision that requires ALL the walls to come down: the walls that block you from facing yourself entirely so you can get to know the rawest version of yourself in order to love every single aspect of you UNCONDITIONALLY.

My gift of being a natural healer and exercising that gift to assist other people on their journey was definitely difficult. My whole life, people have depended on me for advice, to take care of them, to heal them, etc, and my biggest struggle through this journey was not putting myself first. I was always trying to attend to everyone else’s needs and not putting on my own oxygen mask.

As an empath, I can feel the emotions and the state that someone is in. This was difficult to navigate through when you’re navigating through your own deep healing. I would often times feel guilty about putting myself first because of my ability to feel other’s pain and wanting to prioritize them. I struggled with allowing myself to be free from the guilt: always wanting to make sure everyone was being taken care of and not myself but feeling horrible if I don’t say “Yes, sure, no problem, I’ll be right there, absolutely!” This forced me to make a decision: either I focus on others or myself but it can’t be both. It’s almost like undoing all the hard work you put into yourself by putting everyone else first.

I was tapped out. I had no more to give to others. I wasn’t receiving what I was giving, and when I started to honor that reality more, I finally chose me and am so grateful for the challenges.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

WE GOT THIS TOGETHER!

We offer 1:1 weekly virtual sessions, In person 1:1 sessions, Yoga, Expressive Movement, Breathwork.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t see things as good or bad. There is cause, and there is an effect. Good luck and bad luck is also very relative. My luck in general has been both rewarding and depleting at times. Regardless of what kind of luck it was, I always ask “Why? Why did this happen to me?” Whether it was an advantageous luck or luck that doesn’t serve me, I still will always ask, “Why?” If something happens in my life or business and it’s just my luck, I dig deeper: “How can I CONTINUE to do this so that I receive this version of luck?” or “How can I IMPROVE so that this luck doesn’t follow me?”

Luck reminds me that I have control over the decisions I make and for that, I couldn’t be more thankful!
