Daily Inspiration: Meet King JBoi

Today we’d like to introduce you to King JBoi.

King JBoi

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been making music for a while and released my first actual album in 2021. After a few months of campaigning, I was offered a role in a movie where I had a chance to experience the behind-the-scenes of the production.

Having years of experience in producing music videos, I decided to write a movie and give it a shot. Things seemed to work out as I’ve now filmed four movies and featured in a total of 6 in less than one year.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think success is intended to be smooth. Success itself is the journey as the challenges build you up to be the person you have to be to be where you want to be.

I faced mini failures, setbacks, lost investments, and been through numerous things people would consider challenging including losing my mom during the making of my first album in 2020. All of these things built character and made me appreciate the small things in life a little more.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do many things, including running my nonprofit created to help inner-city athletes, however, I am probably most known as a music artist. This led to my acting opportunity, which inevitably led to me executive producing movies and creating soundtracks which is my current focus today. My music is a little different because the content comes from my current position in life.

When I was younger, my music was a little more edgy. Now, I hear more wisdom and calmness reflecting where I am mentally. The films I produce are very much in alignment with my music as they reflect the reality of things happening in the world that I come from, but there’s an element of relatability no matter where you come from or your experiences.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I read pretty often. Some of my favorite books include Rich Dad Poor Dad, 50th Law, Atomic Habits, and The Alchemist. I’m deeply into my spirituality to I’m often listening to podcasts learning more about my energy and understanding life in general.
