Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Riddle.
Hi Shawn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a photographer, videographer, and graphic designer in Atlanta. Growing up in Kansas City, Missouri, I got into this life from being just a doodler in my early years. From high school I got straight into making money designing flyers and things at random until I was funneled through the mixtape era of music to a full-time graphic designer. As I evolved my skillset, I added photography to my design services, and then eventually, out of curiosity, I picked up videography.
My camera has taken me to so many places in this world, and I am grateful for it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Of course, no road without tolls is all the way smooth; there’s always a lesson to be learned. Some things that I have experienced along the way are disputes with customers, getting overbooked, creative blocks, issues with vendors, and not having reliable help, but these are all a part of the game and what comes with it. I started this journey with nothing but creativity, curiosity, and a computer my mom bought with her income tax return; it has helped me evolve into where I am now.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In 2024, my main focus has been branding for entrepreneurs, and that is where I feel most comfortable. I am proud that I have the experience in most areas, so that I am able to assist in any genre whether is be weddings, headshots, album artwork etc.
My ability to be a “one-stop shop” has helped me grow and retain clients over the years.
Probably best memory throughout has to be being on the road working on 2 T-Pain tours. I was specifically working for Mykell Vaughn, but the relationship that I have built with some of T-Pain’s people has put me great positions all of these years later.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I think my favorite childhood memory overall is learning how to be an entrepreneur on my own at the age of 12 or so. During Spring-Fall, I would cut grass, and in the winter, I would shovel snow. Going door to door trying to sell my service, I learned how to set my prices, do the work, and keep those recurring customers happy.
