Today we’d like to introduce you to Chemi Choates.

Hi Chemi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. 
I started cooking as a child, hanging in grandma’s kitchen. It was until 2014, I became the “lunch lady”. This was my first food service job, and needless to say, I was extremely nervous. We had about 300 elementary kids to serve. Michelle Obama had placed dietary restrictions on food. My manager gave me the ok to “twerk” the recipes so the kids would enjoy. Our code was: does this have a little love or a lot? We told them it has a whole lotta love, and that’s what they chose. From then on, it stuck, and our numbers skyrocketed. The executive chef even came to meet, and a few of my recipes were placed in the recipe book for distribution to all schools. I parted ways with the school system in 2016 and started A Whole Lotta Love full-time. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have had a few personal and professional struggles. Being the person that wears every hat, it becomes overwhelming at times. You have no one to bounce your ideas off of, you got to be the accountant all the way to janitor. I’m grateful for the struggles: borrowed recipes, negativity spreading info, and losing a location. I now know how I want to construct things since I’ve had to learn as I grew and lost revenue. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I cater to small and large parties; I also provide decor. I specialize in providing great quality food with all the additions. I’m known for my family rice platters and now Cookie Pies. I’m most proud of the continuation, I’ve had issues placing too many projects on my plate, I’m happy to focus on food again. What sets me apart from the others is me. My personality, ideas, and overall execution can’t be duplicated.
