Today we’d like to introduce you to Caela Harris
Hi Caela, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have over 10 years of experience as a makeup artist. It all started when I would sneak through my mother and grandmothers makeup not even knowing how to apply the products but I had a instinct like no other .At the age of 13/14 I went to school with drawn on black brows and the rest was history . When I began highschool thats when I knew I wanted to become a artist but not just any artist I was thinking big .I admired the science of makeup,I had dreams of winning many makeup rewards joining the IASTE local 479 makeup union and working with the biggest stars in hollywood .During my tenure as a artist , I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients and creating countless looks that bring out their unique beauty. From natural, everyday looks to bold, dramatic transformations, I’ve had the opportunity to experiment with various techniques and products to achieve the desired results.
One of my favorite aspects of being a makeup artist is the ability to connect with each client on an individual level. I love getting to know their style, preferences, and personality, and tailoring my approach to make them feel confident and beautiful. Whether it’s a special occasion, a photo shoot, or just a regular day-to-day look, I take pride in understanding what makes each person unique and how to enhance their features accordingly.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the chance to work on various types of projects, from fashion shows and editorial shoots to weddings and commercial campaigns. Each project presents its own set of challenges and opportunities for creativity, and I’ve learned to adapt quickly to new situations and styles.
Of course, not every experience has been smooth sailing. There have been times when I’ve faced last-minute changes or unexpected challenges on set, but I’ve learned to remain calm and focused under pressure. With years of experience under my belt, I’ve developed a strong problem-solving skillset that allows me to think on my feet and adapt to any situation.
Looking back on my time as a makeup artist, I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients. Many have become friends over the years, and it’s rewarding to see them return for subsequent appointments or refer their friends and family. It’s a testament to the trust we’ve built and the confidence they have in my abilities.
As I continue to grow and evolve as a makeup artist, I’m excited for the new challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Whether it’s exploring new techniques, trying out innovative products, or pushing myself outside of my comfort zone, I’m committed to staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in the industry.
Ultimately, being a makeup artist is not just about applying cosmetics – it’s about empowering individuals to feel their best selves. Whether it’s a bride on her wedding day or a model on the runway, every client deserves to feel confident and radiant in their own skin. As a makeup artist, I’m honored to play a small part in making that happen.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Graduating from high school I decided to go to a Makeup academy I learned the logistics and I did not finish life has thrown me many curve balls I never gave up ,I knew makeup was always for me .During that time I immediately put myself into a Salon with almost no experience working on actual everyday people instead of models and it was such an eye opener for me I had no clue what was doing and I knew from there makeup takes having a tiger’s eye every client is different and it’s important to cater to their unique features and be ready for the unexpected .throughout my 10 years I heard many nos and people telling me im not a good artist .Even today I I don’t have that much support but my Tribe always keep me going .I know that my greater is approaching ,through time I am finally getting the recognition I deserve.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have more of a alternative style to makeup making sure to keep a hold on to the Soft Glam look that has took over the industry by a storm. One of my greatest strengths as a makeup artist is my attention to detail. I believe that even the smallest details can make a big difference in how a look turns out, and I take the time to carefully consider every aspect of a client’s face before applying makeup. From perfecting the shape of their eyebrows to ensuring that their lip color is just right, I’m meticulous in my approach to ensure that every client leaves feeling satisfied with their final look.
