Today we’d like to introduce you to Mmah/Macire Diabate
Hi Mmah/Macire, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We’ve always been around hair and began doing each other’s hair in middle school. In our freshman year of high school, we began the hair page together right before COVID-19 hit. Since then, we have consistently serviced clients for almost five years. We were 14 when we started the business and will be going into our twenties, expanding and improving with the help of our clients. Our business primarily stems from using Instagram, @maadidit, as our main platform, where we share our work and where clients can book their appointments. Our journey from being each other’s hairstylists to CEOs has been remarkable, and as we approach our twenties, we are excited to continue expanding and improving our business with the unmeasurable support from our clients as we showcase our work for everyone to see.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest obstacle/challenge would most definitely be running a business on our own. There isn’t a handbook on how to do this “correctly.” so a lot of it is learned through experience. From being taken advantage of when leasing a suite to dealing with difficult clients, we’ve had to manage it firsthand without a guide. Another obstacle for us would be being a first gen, juggling school and a business was a hard task for us. Especially with the start of our business during quarantine, we had to learn how to manage our time to be students and business owners. However, it’s still something we work on now being full-time college students.
As you know, we’re big fans of MaaDidIt LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Twin sisters who share their creativity through the hairstyles provided to clients and for the world to see. We quite literally specialize in most hairstyles, such as knotless, twists, locs, and installs. We take pride in being an affordable, professional, and respectful home for many families and would like readers to know it’s a safe place here!
