Inspiring Conversations with Keith Jones of The Meridian Amalgam Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Jones

Hi Keith, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from St. Louis, Mo. The city that played a big part in molding my love for music. My sister Miesha and my cousin Sheena were singers. Watching them create and perform, inspired me to take music seriously. I built a connection with their producer Larry Johnson, who lent me some production equipment which allowed me to craft my own sound

Around my sophomore year of Highschool, I linked up with some friends, Dennis Jordan and Jarrell Green. Together, we created the group, “The Hard Headz” which later formed into “The Yung Entrepreneur $quad.” We went on to sign a 2 album deal with an independent label ran by Joseph Johnson who played defensive end for the New Orleans Saints. We toured different cities and played shows until we graduated.

After high school, we continued to grow our fanbase through headlining shows, releasing albums and promoting at different venues in and out of the city. We found ourselves playing shows in Atlanta quite often. so much, we decided to make the move to Atlanta around 2016. While in Atlanta, we connected with a prominent group from St. Louis by the name of Big 700 (Gauge, Holy Zeus, and Trouble). Big 700 connected us with some key people in the industry that helped push our career along but the woes of the music industry and life took a toll on us as a collective which resulted in us disbanding.

After our separation, different artists and A&R’s continued to contact me to write hooks for them. At this time, I thought it would be great to transition into songwriting. From there, I started my own songwriting company, The Meridian Amalgam Group. Now, I write songs and jingles for artists, tv/film, and small businesses.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting this journey at 15 years old, it’s been a very rocky road. I’ve ran into many obstacles chasing my dreams. From being broke because I spent my last on equipment, dealing with shady characters in the industry, to learning how to cope after the passing of my parents while trying to stay motivated to do what I love. The lonely nights of constant doubt, asking myself am I good enough can be quite daunting. The idea of juggling real life responsibilities while putting your all into something so intangible gets exhausting. Being a creative in any facet is not for the meek. It takes real faith and perseverance to excel.
