Daily Inspiration: Meet Gina Magwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Magwood

Hi Gina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. I have a deep love and passion for décor. As a child, I watched my Mom decorate our tiny Bronx apartment and truly transform it into something out of a magazine. Rearranging furniture and ordering pieces from the shopping network was like a hobby for her. Little did I know how much of an impact this would have on me as an adult in my own home. I’m so thankful to have had that influence from her at such a young age. What started as a passion in my own home, lead to a world of entrepreneurship for me. I began offering Home Staging services as well as Interior Styling Services. Some of my work has been featured and recognized on websites and social media platforms such as Z Gallerie, Safavieh, West Elm, Lamps Plus and TOV Furniture.

I decided to take a leap of Faith and chase a dream that’s been living in my heart for quite some time now. Through my candle business I am able to enter homes on a different level by setting the mood for their ambiance.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any goals and dreams pursued there are always bumps along the road to reach your destination. For me putting myself out there was very scary and challenging at times. When you believe in yourself so strongly it doesn’t always mean everyone else will. I think staying strong mentally helped in a major way to not only continue to create and present my talents for all to see but to gain the level of trust with those that have followed my journey. Building that trust and relationships has allowed for these same supporters to buy my products and services. There are times when I want to throw in the towel but the passion in my heart for what I do will not allow me to do so. I truly live and breathe it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an interior designer and business owner. I specialize in making things beautiful for my clients. I bring visions to life or help them see a vision they could not have imagined on their own. I’m best known for transforming spaces that typically includes a fabulous DIY. I’m also known for my luxury candle line which I’m very proud of. I am most proud of my perseverance to push through. In today’s world of social media it is hard at times to stay positive and believe that there is more than enough room for everyone. I believe what sets me apart is my dedication to be my most authentic self and not falling into what is trendy. I create from my heart and mentally silence the outside noise.

What are your plans for the future?
In the near future I a plan to expand my business further offering more than just candles by including other luxury home decor products. I hope to one day own a storefront and become a household name.
