*Nkafu Sulet: Founder and Creative Director of SULET NOIR*

Nkafu Sulet, the visionary founder and creative director of SULET NOIR, embarked on her journey into the fashion world by blending her academic achievements with her profound passion for design. Holding a Master’s in Business Administration, she decided to channel her expertise and creativity into establishing a brand that empowers and inspires.

Driven by the desire to address a common challenge faced by many African women—finding perfectly fitting attire—Nkafu traveled to Ghana. Here, she honed her skills at BlueCrest School of Fashion and Design, later specializing in bridal wear at Dream of Creative Arts. This experience ignited her mission to create clothing that enhances individuality and confidence.

Founded in 2020, SULET NOIR is dedicated to redefining elegance and self-expression. The brand offers a versatile range of clothing for all occasions, from the glamour of the red carpet to the intimacy of weddings and the comfort of everyday wear. Each piece is crafted to celebrate the wearer’s identity, accentuate their confidence, and make them feel exceptional.

Nkafu’s journey includes notable milestones:
* Hosted one of the biggest fashion events, FIAFA 2015, and participated as AFT (AFRIK FASHION TREND) 2016.
* Rebranded her label to SULET NOIR in 2020.
* Showcased her collections at Accra Fashion Week (2021).
* Selected as a designer under mentorship at GLITS Fashion Runway Ghana (2021).
* Nominated for Best New Brand in Fashion Ghana Honors and Awards (2021)
* Impact New Stylist at Cameroon Heroes Awards (2022).
* Showcased in Music Fashion Runway in Nigeria (2022)
* Launched a new fashion atelier in Douala, Cameroon (2023).
* Awarded Best Female Brand at African Heritage Week and Awards (2023).
* Received a certificate from The Veekee James Secret Luxury and Fashion Masterclass in Nigeria (2023).
* Honored as Fashion Revelation of the Year at MBOTI Awards (2023).
* Showcased her designs at the International Silicon Valley Film Festival in California, USA (2023).
* Music Fashion Designer of the year 2023 from CIMFEST.
* Featured in Cameroon Tribune for her impact on women and redefining class (2024).
*Young Founder of the year 2024 from Founder’s Cafe by LBS Group
* Participated in the Women in Business Cooperative Initiative Forum, empowered by the British High Commission (2024).

Nkafu was also chosen to showcase her work at the Annual Show in Paris (2025) and recently won Best Fashion Brand of the Year at MBOTI Awards (2024).

Currently, Nkafu Sulet is on a summer sales tour in the USA, continuing to spread her vision of elegance and individuality through SULET NOIR.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh No!…the Road has not been Smooth .Growing as brand that was created out of passion by Name AFRIK FASHION TREND to SULETNOIR which I am thankful to God for finding my purpose through my Arts I faced so many challenges. One major challenge was the fact that I was hardly satisfied by my tailors when I started in 2016 and it made me cry because I get bad finish products or I don’t have my products on time which was a major problem to me and I really wanted to solve this problem because I know it’s not just me facing it but the world at large especially women with different body silhouettes.. This made me traveled to Ghana to study and know more about what fashion entails and o realizes it so much more than we see!…Today am happy I found my self as SULET NOIR to change the narratives about tailored garments especially in our mentality .SN is here to rebuild that loss confidence and boast it in every man and woman who especially are going through a lot and want to lighten up .SULET means Light and Noir Means Black in French,.So we lighting up every darkness through emotions in all our pieces we Creat according to your personality and story by putting smiles on all our clients faces through clothes .
