Her work spans the private and public sectors, where she has redefined the art of creating transformative experiences that captivate audiences and push the boundaries of storytelling.
Kelly is a leading trendsetter in immersive theater and a sought-after author, designer, and producer of live shows that inspire awe and engagement. She is the visionary creator behind Luminocity, a groundbreaking public spectacle that utilizes the urban landscape as a canvas for a migrating light parade and video mapping display. Seamlessly integrating art, technology, and architecture, Luminocity reimagines the way people interact with their environment, setting a new benchmark for public entertainment.
Adding to her impressive portfolio is Mirth and Mischief, Kelly’s newest show, which is the Southeast Region’s first fantasy-themed migrating immersive theater experience staged in a castle. Opening on May 2, 2025, this innovative production will fuse fantasy storytelling with interactive performance, promising to earn widespread acclaim for its ingenuity and audience impact.
Kelly’s work is deeply informed by her training in behavioral psychology techniques, strategy-based experience design, and event engineering—a rare combination of skills that allows her to craft events that resonate emotionally and intellectually with her audiences. Each production she undertakes is intentional and impactful, designed to create unforgettable moments that linger long after the show concludes.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Kelly’s career has not been without its challenges. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, she often faced obstacles due to her gender, needing to work harder to prove her expertise and vision. Her innate ability to identify trends early—long before they were widely embraced—often led to frustration as her city and surroundings were not always aligned with her forward-thinking ideas. The financial challenges of being a serial entrepreneur brought their own set of hurdles, requiring resilience and creativity to navigate. Personal losses during her childbearing years added emotional depth to her journey, while major global setbacks such as the dot-com crash, 9/11, and the COVID-19 pandemic tested her ability to adapt and persevere. Through it all, Kelly emerged stronger, transforming each obstacle into a stepping stone toward greater achievements
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an experience engineer, and I apply that philosophy to every aspect of my life—from a simple night out with friends to the transformative work I create. My approach begins with uncovering the story behind every action and embracing life as a stage filled with dynamic characters. While I started my career in corporate event design, specializing in meetings and events, I discovered my greatest joy in using entertainment tactics to forge emotional connections between audiences and live experiences.
What sets me apart is my ability to create accessible art and entertainment. My work invites audiences to engage at their comfort level—whether they simply enjoy the surface experience or explore deeper layers to uncover clever details and hidden easter eggs. I draw inspiration from a wide array of sources—collected images, music, travel, cultures, and experiences—and blend them into fresh and unexpected combinations, like crafting a new recipe from diverse ingredients.
My job is to pull people into the present moment because, in my world, you never know what will happen next or where it will come from. This unpredictability keeps audiences on their toes and heightens their engagement. Being present deepens emotional connections, allowing attendees to fully immerse themselves in the experience and connect with the story in meaningful ways.
I approach spaces as four-dimensional canvases. I don’t just create at ground level but design for a 360-degree immersive environment that fully surrounds the audience. My true specialization is in creating deeply immersive experiences where the audience becomes an integral part of the story. Each attendee plays a role and has a unique outcome, ensuring that no two experiences are ever the same.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to connect with people emotionally and transform spaces into unforgettable moments of magic and wonder. It’s my passion to bring stories to life in ways that inspire, engage, and delight—leaving every audience member with their own personal narrative to carry home.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The entertainment industry is indeed at a fascinating crossroads, there are many trends experts are predicting. Over the next 5–10 years, I see several significant shifts shaping the landscape, particularly with the integration of AI and changing audience preferences:
1. AI-Driven Creativity and Personalization
AI is already revolutionizing the way stories are created and consumed. From generative scripts to hyper-personalized content recommendations, AI will enable studios to tailor experiences to individuals. Imagine movies or interactive stories that adapt in real-time to a viewer’s emotions or choices.
AI could also empower smaller creators to produce high-quality content with fewer resources, democratizing the industry further.
2. Growth in Immersive and Experiential Entertainment
Immersive theatre and live experiences are likely to see a resurgence. People crave connection, physicality, and engagement that technology cannot fully replicate. This trend could expand into mixed-reality productions, combining live actors with holograms, AR, and VR to create boundary-pushing experiences.
Immersive theme parks, escape rooms, and live-action role-playing events may also grow, offering a blend of escapism and active participation.
3. Escapism and Nostalgia
In uncertain times, audiences often turn to comfort and nostalgia. Whether it’s through immersive reinterpretations of beloved classics or new works designed to transport people to entirely different worlds, escapism will remain a strong driver of consumer behavior.
Fantasy, sci-fi, and world-building genres will likely thrive, especially in formats that allow deep engagement like VR and open-world gaming.
4. Hybrid Formats and Cross-Media Storytelling
The lines between movies, games, and interactive experiences are blurring. With tools like AI, creators can build expansive universes where audiences can move seamlessly between a film, a VR game, and even real-world experiences—all telling parts of the same story.
This shift will require creators to think in multi-platform, multi-sensory terms, giving rise to entirely new forms of storytelling.
5. Focus on Ethical and Sustainable Content
With growing awareness of climate change and societal issues, audiences are demanding content that reflects their values. Productions will likely continue to embrace sustainability in filmmaking practices and highlight themes of hope and change in storytelling.
As AI becomes more prominent, transparency about its role in creating content will also become a key concern.
6. New Business Models
Subscription fatigue in streaming platforms could give rise to innovative business models like microtransactions for interactive features or “pay what you can” pricing for live events, increasing accessibility.
The common thread here is that while AI and technology are reshaping many facets of entertainment, the human connection—be it through immersive live experiences, engaging stories, or shared cultural moments—will remain irreplaceable. The industry’s ability to combine cutting-edge technology with authentic, meaningful engagement will define the next decade.
