Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanesha Jackson.
Hi Tanesha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my business from deeply personal experiences—things I was, and still am, dealing with. At 29, I was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease and had to start dialysis. My kidneys took a major hit after having my second daughter. High blood pressure and preeclampsia damaged them to the point where they could no longer function properly.
I spent six years on dialysis until September 7, 2022, when I finally received a kidney transplant. Since then, my heart has been guiding me to help others navigate life with end-stage renal disease.
I remember feeling confused, sad, and depressed—every emotion imaginable—during those dialysis days. And even now, with a transplant, I still have moments filled with anxiety and uncertainty.
That’s what my brand is about: helping others get through the same things I’m still going through. Because nobody should have to face this journey alone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! Imagine being in a dialysis chair with a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old, all while still working a full-time job. It was hard. I honestly don’t know how I would’ve made it without my family—thank God for them.
My spirituality and faith kept me uplifted, and I still lean into that every day for peace and understanding. Exercising and surrounding myself with a positive circle has also helped me push through.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So I actually do two things: I’m a full-time content creator for Kidney Motivation, and I also work in aviation supply chain sales. Aviation is fast-paced and always keeps me on my toes, while content creation lets me tap into my creative side and show off my editing skills (I have a background in radio production)
The one thing I’m most proud of is my ability to genuinely connect with people—it’s truly my biggest strength. My personality is A-1, LOL! That’s what always sets me apart.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
There have definitely been a few risks, but the biggest one for me has been the sacrifice of time away from my girls. As we all know, it takes a lot to build a business from the ground up, and I worry that they may one day resent the moments I missed. I don’t know—we’ll see. But what I do know is that I believe in this brand and everything we’re doing to help people.
I’ve also taken personal risks to protect my mental health. Being around negative people who didn’t truly love or respect me was making me depressed and increasing my anxiety. I had to let that go. My girls and my dreams mean more to me than staying in spaces that dim my light.
