Life & Work with Candy Richards of Gwinnett county

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candy Richards.

Hi Candy , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been anything but traditional, but every piece of it made me who I am. I started in entertainment as a video and print model, which led to acting roles on shows like The Game (BET), Atlanta (FX), and reality TV like Real Chance of Love 2. Early on, I also worked in radio at 102 Jamz in Greensboro, North Carolina—so using my voice and presence to connect with people has always been part of my path.

Now in my 40s, I’m a baddie who’s still evolving—showing up as a softer, wiser, stronger version of myself. Whether it’s through fitness, my soft lifestyle brand Softly Obsessed, or my digital content, I’m building a platform that empowers others to glow up from the inside out.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all—it’s been a journey full of bumps, detours, and unexpected storms. I’ve battled chronic health issues like fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis. I’ve had seasons of deep depression, moments of financial struggle, and times where I was living with other people just trying to hold it together. Behind the scenes, I was exhausted—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

But the one constant through it all was God. Even in my darkest moments, He never left me. I truly believe my comeback wasn’t just about resilience—it was about reliance. When I couldn’t lean on my own strength, I leaned on my faith. God carried me when I couldn’t carry myself, and He gave me the vision to rebuild my life from the inside out.

So no, the road hasn’t been smooth—but it’s been covered in grace. And every trial made me stronger, wiser, and more in tune with my purpose. I’m living proof that when God says it’s not over—it’s not over.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I wear a few hats, but they all center around helping women feel confident, powerful, and seen. I’m a content creator, voiceover artist, and the founder of Rich Fit—a lifestyle and fitness coaching brand where I share the real-life steps I took to transform my body, my mindset, and my life. I’m not a personal trainer—I don’t pretend to be. I’m a coach who walks people through what worked for me—from workouts to mindset shifts to the small daily habits that helped me get real results.

I specialize in helping women—especially those in their 30s and 40s—rebuild their confidence and feel good in their own skin again. I’ve created a space where women can be honest about their struggles and still feel sexy, strong, and soft all at the same time.

Outside of that, I’m known for my content creation—from fitness and beauty to lifestyle and voiceovers. My content blends humor, glam, vulnerability, and authenticity. And yes, I still waitress part-time, not just for income but because it keeps me social and grounded. I’ve built so many real connections through that job—some of my most loyal followers and clients started from those everyday interactions.

What I’m most proud of is turning my own journey into a movement that reminds women you don’t have to be perfect to make progress. What sets me apart is that I’m not selling a fantasy—I’m living proof of what’s possible when you stop making excuses and start choosing yourself.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is honesty and transparency. I’ve lived through enough to know that pretending doesn’t heal anything. I’ve spent seasons hiding my struggles—whether it was pain, depression, financial issues, or feeling lost in my purpose—and all it did was delay my breakthrough. Once I started being real with myself and with others, everything started to shift.

That’s why I lead with transparency in my work, in my content, and in my coaching. I don’t sugarcoat my journey or try to present some perfect image. I talk about the hard stuff—the health battles, the setbacks, the self-doubt—because I know someone else needs to hear it. I believe that being honest is the most powerful way to connect, inspire, and grow. And for me, there’s no freedom like being fully yourself and being loved for it anyway.
