Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Nutter.
Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got my start in the mortgage industry in 2019 while living in California. At the time, I was ready for a career change and made the bold decision to not only switch industries but also relocate to Georgia. Just a few months after starting my new role, the world shut down due to COVID-19. While it was a challenging time for so many, the slowdown allowed me to fully immerse myself in the mortgage world and dedicate my energy to learning everything I could.
Early on, I found myself working with a lot of first-time homebuyers—and I quickly realized how many people lacked access to basic information about credit, the homebuying process, and financial literacy. That gap inspired me to turn to social media as a way to educate at scale. What started as a few videos grew into something much bigger—today, I’ve built a community of over 300,000 followers and counting. My platform has opened doors I never imagined, connecting me with people all across the country and creating opportunities to collaborate, educate, and lead.
In the middle of building this business, I moved back to California briefly due to family health issues. When it came time to return to Georgia, my husband and I decided to take an unconventional route—we purchased an RV, branded it, and turned it into a mobile education tour across the U.S. It looked like a tour bus, and in a way, it was. Along the way, I had the chance to meet with students, first-time buyers, and real estate agents across the country, teaching everything from how to fix your credit to how to build your brand as an agent.
Since coming back to Georgia, I’ve planted roots in Buford and opened my own mortgage branch. I’ve started building a team that works with clients nationwide, but Georgia is—and always will be—home. Being able to pour back into the community that welcomed me has been one of the most fulfilling parts of this journey.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the biggest challenges I faced early on was entering a brand-new industry during a global pandemic. I started in the mortgage business in 2019, and just as I was getting my footing, the world shut down. There was so much uncertainty—not just for me, but for my clients. I had to learn fast, adapt quickly, and find ways to build trust without face-to-face meetings. In many ways, that challenge became an opportunity, because it pushed me to get creative and lean into digital platforms to educate and connect.
Another major obstacle came when I had to temporarily move back to California due to family health issues. Trying to balance personal responsibilities while continuing to grow my business was incredibly difficult. That season forced me to redefine what success looked like and taught me the value of building systems and a team that could function even when life throws you curveballs.
Social media has also been both a blessing and a challenge. Putting yourself out there, especially in a professional industry like mortgage lending, opens you up to criticism. But over time, I’ve learned to tune out the noise, stay focused on my mission, and keep showing up for the people who need the information I share.
Like any entrepreneur, I’ve faced moments of doubt, burnout, and imposter syndrome. But every challenge has taught me something—and those lessons have shaped how I lead, how I serve my clients, and how I show up online and in my community.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m the branch manager of a mortgage team based in Buford, Georgia, and we specialize in helping everyday people become homeowners—especially first-time buyers who may feel overwhelmed or unsure of where to start. We’re licensed nationwide, but a large part of our heart and focus is right here in Georgia. What sets us apart is how we approach the process: it’s not just about closing loans, it’s about education, empowerment, and building long-term financial confidence.
We’ve become known for breaking down complicated topics—credit, mortgages, budgeting, and financial literacy—in a way that’s clear, approachable, and even fun. Through my social media platform @anutterhomeloan, I’ve been able to reach hundreds of thousands of people across the U.S., showing them that homeownership is possible, no matter where you’re starting from. We use real talk, creative storytelling, and authenticity to make content that resonates—and ultimately helps people take action.
One of the things I’m most proud of brand-wise is how much trust we’ve built with our audience. Whether it’s through videos, webinars, or one-on-one conversations, people know we’ll shoot it to them straight and meet them where they’re at—no judgment, no jargon.
Our offerings include home loans, refinances, credit education, and agent partnerships, but what we really offer is guidance. We’re here for the long haul—to make sure people aren’t just getting into homes, but doing it the smart way.
More than anything, I want readers to know this: your story doesn’t have to be traditional to achieve something extraordinary. Whether you’re starting from scratch, bouncing back, or just unsure where to begin—we’re here to walk you through it.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality I believe has been most important to my success is relatability. In an industry that can feel intimidating or full of jargon, I’ve made it a priority to show up as myself—honest, approachable, and willing to have the conversations most people are afraid to have about credit, money, and homeownership.
People don’t just want information—they want to feel seen, understood, and supported. Whether it’s through a TikTok video or a first-time buyer consultation, I try to create a space where people feel comfortable asking questions and confident making decisions. That’s what builds trust, and trust is everything in this business.
Consistency, creativity, and work ethic have all played big roles too—but being real and relatable has been the foundation for every connection I’ve made and every client I’ve helped.
