Exploring Life & Business with Nicole LeBlanc of LUXE Designs by Nicole & RockSTAR Production Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole LeBlanc.

Nicole LeBlanc

Hi Nicole, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
When I was five years old, I watched “Making Michael Jackson’s Thriller,” and that was the moment I knew: I wanted to do what those people did. I didn’t just fall in love with the performance—I fell in love with the process. The cameras, the costumes, the celebrities, the makeup, the details AKA the magic of storytelling—it was the coolest thing in the world to me.

Growing up in a small town outside of New Orleans, I had no idea how I’d get to Hollywood—but that fire had been lit. I chased that dream through my teens and into college, where I earned a BA in Film Production from the University of New Orleans. My big break came during my final semester: an internship with Paramount Pictures on “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” That’s where my film career officially began.

For nearly 20 years, I worked in film and television, designing and decorating sets. Because work was my passion, I climbed quickly through the art department ranks, always in leadership roles. I wasn’t just a creative—I had a strong head for business and a gift for solving complex problems under pressure.

When the film & television industry came to a halt a few years ago, I had to pivot fast. I began renting out rooms in my four-bedroom home for extra income while exploring opportunities in events—a lateral move that still kept me connected to entertainment. That’s when I discovered experiential events. I connected with an Executive Producer who took me under his wing, and everything clicked. That’s how RockSTAR Production Services was born—my own production company focused on creating immersive, unforgettable experiences. Currently, I’m a producing partner on my first major convention in Las Vegas for this fall.

Around the same time, I was diving into the concept of house-hacking and decided to take things a step further. The very week I founded my production company, I also launched LUXE Designs by Nicole, turning my home into a Boutique Bed & Breakfast. Now, I manage three beautifully designed rooms available for short- and mid-term stays with plans for expansion. The fourth room is my office, where I run both businesses—unless I’m on location for a show.

As an artist and entrepreneur, I need meaningful work. I can’t sit at a desk just to pass the time—I need to create, connect, and feel inspired. Before stepping into the world of entertainment, I honed my skills in the vibrant hospitality scene of New Orleans—an experience that now shapes the heart and soul of my boutique bed & breakfast. As a designer, I’m equally devoted to creating visually stunning spaces and crafting experiences that resonate deeply—leaving a lasting impression long after the moment has passed. LUXE Designs by Nicole isn’t just a stay—it’s an experience in design.

And production? Experiential excites me the way film and television once did. I’m not where I was three years ago, but I know exactly where I’m going—and I’m building my empire brick-by-brick every single day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been easy. After the film industry collapsed, I applied to hundreds of jobs—hundreds—and heard almost nothing back. The interviews I did get? They just weren’t the right fit. I even accepted a few roles hoping something might click, but it became clear pretty quickly: those jobs—and those companies—weren’t aligned with who I am or how I work.

There were roles I really wanted that slipped through my fingers after five rounds of interviews. Others rejected me outright—jobs I was more than qualified for. And the most common question I got was always: “Why would you leave film and television?”

Most people have no idea what actually happened to the industry. They assume it’s still booming. They don’t see the collapse—or the massive personal toll it takes on the people who live and breathe it. And unfortunately, many hiring managers and recruiters can’t see past the words film and television on a resume. They want a clone of their job description, not someone who spent their career juggling creativity, logistics, pressure, deadlines, and impossible expectations.

So I had to get creative. I had to reframe decades of experience—everything from building worlds on screen to leading large-scale teams—and make it make sense on paper. I had to tone down the very work I was proud of just to get in the door. What most people don’t realize is that film and television professionals are some of the hardest-working, most resilient people out there. The industry isn’t glamorous. It’s grueling. It demands everything you have—and then asks for more.

But it also built me.

And at some point, I realized: I’m not here to shrink myself to fit into someone else’s mold. I’m not built for the corporate cookie-cutter. So I stopped trying to fit in—and chose to build something of my own.

That’s when I launched RockSTAR Production Services & LUXE Designs by Nicole—because if I was going to work this hard, it was going to be for me. I stopped waiting for permission and started creating opportunity.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
