Shannon Roberson of Chamblee on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Shannon Roberson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Shannon , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of building my relationship with God. A lot of us grow up going to church and others don’t. I was always told it was important to attend church. I was one of the kids who was forced to go every Sunday but didn’t quite understand the importance and significance of God. Now that I’m older and have went through my own trials and tribulations, I’ve gave myself back to God. It’s not just about going to church. It’s about building your relationship with him. It’s about building a prayer life and being the best that you can be. None of the things I’ve accomplished would have been possible without him.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shannon Arianna Roberson. However, people call me “Ari”. People from my hometown call me “Bug”. I’m a small town girl. I am the owner of Ari Nailz & Ari Customs. I’m also a content creator. I categorize all of my business ventures under the name “The Ari Experience”. This includes my nails/toe designs, graphic designs, and content. I’ve recently relocated to Atlanta at the end of last year. That’s a long story within itself. However, I’ve always wanted to be here and I’m excited about where God is taking me.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My mom and dad taught me the most about work. They’ve always ALWAYS worked. They’ve always provided everything we ever wanted and needed. I’ve never seen them be lazy when it came to getting money and I just followed in their footsteps. I would always have a job after high school. Even during college, I always found ways to work. Before the nails, I had so many different jobs. However, it just never was meant for me to work a regular 9-5 job. They never worked out. I had to find my way to make the hustle work for me.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes there’s been plenty of times I wanted to give up. I’ve been through a lot of heartache and endured a lot of things but I kept pushing. Anytime I’ve lost my way, God showed up and rerouted my path. I can’t give up. I’ve come too far to stop now. My younger self and so many others are depending on me.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. I don’t pretend to be someone else. I am who I appear to be. People can honestly tell when you are not genuine. I’m a firm believer in the right people accepting you for who are you. Even when recording my content, I don’t pretend to be someone else. I’m just a small town girl with big dreams. I aim to be a better person everyday & I love God the most. I’ve learned to love myself (flaws & all).

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think my customers would miss the nails the most lol. I absolutely love what I do and it shows in my work. I also think they would miss the vibes and conversations we have. My nail suite is a safe place for my clients. I’ve built some great relationships.
