the ToNe Atlanta of The best part on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to the ToNe Atlanta. Check out our conversation below.

the ToNe, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of the day starts at 5:07 am. Before I get out the bed I have to read the Bible and say a prayer. By 5:37 am, I have showered, brushed my teeth and did my hair. 6:12 am, I am normally out the house headed to work. I’m an electrical engineer by day, R&B Artist by the afternoon

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go by the name “the ToNe Atlanta.” I am the R&B guru (writer, producer, engineer, artist). I got my first deal with Maurice Starr at the age of 13. I was lead singer of the billboard charting Gospel group, “5 Young Men.” I have deals with Koch Records, Interscope Records, Empire Records, and if recent, Sony/ATV. I am currently working on 2 projects: a Gospel album titled, “In the Mawnin’” as well as an R&B album titled, “Ghetto.” Both are set to release on January 24th, 2026. That is also my birthday. Aquarius Season!!!!!!!!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
The first person outside, of my mother, to notice my singing abilities was my aunt. When she realized I could sing, she made sure to guide me in a route that would help develop, no just as a skilled singer, but as an artist and a writer. She made me study the greats, from Stevie Wonder, R. Kelly, Ray Charles, Donny Hathaway, Sam Cooke, just to name a few. She made me develop my falsetto as well as my lower register. She made sure if I was gonna sing, I was gonna sing stupendously.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I have quit doing music so many times, but I’ve never stopped. The music industry has so many snakes, fakes, and hate that you will develop ptsd and have trust issues. From shady booty music artist, to janky promoters and radio personalities, to street ran labels that don’t want you to be better than them. Anything and everything I have dealt with when it comes to the music industry, but I’m still here.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I am a trendsetter I don’t tend to follow trends. I’ve never been a follow the leader type of guy or a monkey see monkey do person. Mostly everything today is a fad down to the music. DJs aren’t playing any new music in the club. They’re playing music from 10 years ago because it is a fad of terrible music going on. It’s the DJs and radio personalities fault. They picked money over quality and it’s now a dark cloud over music as it’s the lowest it’s ever been. People would rather listen to a podcast over music. Speaking of podcasts, that is another fad that will soon come to an abrupt end. Nothing is original, everything is refurbished, repacked, rebranded, and resold.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in the studio. That is my world!!!! I have the power there to take absolutely nothing and truly make it into a masterpiece. It starts with a melody, not a word a melody. That melody then creates a rhythm, and from the melody and rhythm, the song is being completed. Of course it’s a little more detail to it, but to be able to create a world of your own with entirely whatever you decide it to be, is heaven in itself or peace.
