An Inspired Chat with Jasmine Keith of Atlanta

We recently had the chance to connect with Jasmine Keith and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Music and writing have always been outlets for my storytelling and personal expression. I think we all need that, don’t you? To have an escape from whatever life throws at us, to have a chance to be ourselves and no one else. It’s our chance to be vulnerable and powerful at the same time. And being able to do it in whatever way we want, whatever form we want to take it, is really the best part.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jasmine Keith, known artistically as jvzyk (pronounced, jazzy-kay). I’m an artist originally from Myrtle Beach, SC, now based in Atlanta. I’ve been creating music since the age of 3, and over the years, it’s become my way of spreading love and helping people feel less alone in a world that can feel overwhelming.

What sets me apart is my ability to tell raw, personal stories through a dark R&B/alternative R&B sound. My music is a reflection of real emotions, real experiences, and a real desire to connect.

Right now, I’m focused on building my fanbase and reaching the people who need to hear what I have to say.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I’ve been reflecting on someone I used to talk to—a person who, despite all the pain and heartbreak they put me through, really helped shape who I am today. It took me a while to realize it, but everything I went through with them helped me find my true self.

They pushed me to stop focusing on things that weren’t helping me grow or succeed. I learned so much—not just about life, but about myself. About what I expect from friends, from a partner, and from any kind of relationship.

And honestly… they also inspired some banger music, so shoutout to the lessons.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I think the fear of being alone in this world has held me back a lot in life. Not just in dating but also in my pursuit of friends. It is scary to think that at the end of all these trials and tribulations, you’ll be alone, but realistically, some times that is the case, and it is a hard pill to swallow. But that is why it is important to truly find yourself and love yourself, because there is no one you can trust more than yourself.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I say yes, 100%. I really think a lot of people in this music/entertainment industry are putting on an act for the sake of living up to the internet’s image of a “star.” I think it is very important to be honest and yourself with your audience so that you and your music can be taken seriously.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What pain do you resist facing directly?
Heartbreak is like the common cold. We ALL go through it. It is important to never lose yourself because of a relationship. Yes, you’ll feel some pain for a bit, but pick up yourself, dust off, and keep grinding and growing.
