Today we’d like to introduce you to John Gary Dewberry.
Hi John Gary, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Atlanta/Decatur GA is home for me, now 19 years. I was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, home of the Basketball Hall of Fame. I am a DJ, men’s Suit Retail Salesman and entertainment concert promoter. I have produced a cable television dance music show and I am a copywriter.
I have written commercials and various promotions, learning the radio business as a college radio DJ. I did not graduate college, attending Springfield Community College but of all my withdrawal from classes, I did excel in English Literature.
I have many stories to tell over my 65 years of living but it’s best to to say I have been Blessed over the years. I have 3 sons which I love dearly, 28, 30, and 38 neither of them live in Georgia.
I am married now 10 years to my former classmate and best friend Karen Ware, who is K Sylvia noted as co Author of my 2nd book titled Maggiedocious Wordett’s Soul Sonnets. My 1st book is titled Hang All The Mistletoe Meet The Black Ebenezer, which was published in 2022. My 2nd book was published earlier this year 2025 by Pa Pro Vi Publishing, led by Dr. LaQuita Parks, who recommended me to you.
I love writing and writing stories, which is funny when I see it written here, because it has taken a long time to accomplish and winds down a road of cathartic therapy. I am an Ordained Pastor since 2023 and I thought my books would be spiritual help stories based on my Bible experience,, which they are, But God allowed me to express my talents based on my love for Christmas.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not been smooth, yet every obstacle was overcome. I was Blessed to have my 1st book published by a Black Woman led company called Firebrand. They led me on an adventure in literature, coaching me though my efforts which produced a 478 page book. It was an expensive venture and very taxing for a first time author. But I commend them for publishing the first book about a Black Ebenezer Scrooge., which took over 3 years, I have sold about 50 copies but I will be promoting and selling again through the Holiday Season.
Pa Pro Vi has revitalized my career as an author. I thought I was one and done, but Pa Pro Vi re-energized me. I was able to get back in the game with my 2nd book, which is a character extension from my first book. I had begun to lose confidence in my direction and thought it best to move on. Pa Pro Vi helped me bring my idea to reality by book cover, and believing in my story of the Ghost of Christmas Past who speaks in rhymes.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My artistic and creative talents are to build a career as a self help and motivation Speaker.
My Brand is Mycybermap.com which is 15 years and counting. I plan to turn my book into a screenplay for the big screen and give another generation something they can sustain.
Coming up with Black Ebenezer is what I am known for over my time. Just pushing ahead my ideas, as a dreamer, this has set me apart as long as I can remember.
This is what I do, and a constant in my past, my wife and I make it work,The Lord Blesses us to pursue and He provides.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I preach a Sunday Sabbath day worship Service from home or online,,and have done so for 4years.
