We’re looking forward to introducing you to Destini Taylor. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Destini, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, what’s been bringing me joy is slowing down enough to savor the little things—morning walks, conversations with my daughter, and the simple peace of being fully present with the people I love. My work is deeply connected to healing and purpose, but these quiet, personal moments remind me why the work matters in the first place. Joy for me isn’t found in big achievements—it’s in the daily reminders that love, connection, and presence are the real wealth of life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Destini Taylor, author, poet, and creator of The Words of My Soul LLC. Everything I build—whether it’s a book, a self-reflection game, a digital sanctuary, or a guided meditation—comes from one core mission: to remind people that their voice matters and their story carries power.
Through my brands Destini Unfiltered and SEEN, I create spaces where men and women can heal, reflect, and grow. My work is unique because it blends artistry with practicality—I don’t just offer words, I design experiences that spark transformation. From journals and planners to interactive games and voice memos, each creation is crafted to meet people at their pain points and guide them toward clarity, confidence, and self-worth.
Right now, I’m expanding SEEN, a brand dedicated to men, with books, digital planners, and voice memo offerings that pour life into men where they often feel unseen. At the same time, I continue to publish empowering works for women under Destini Unfiltered, weaving poetry, reflection, and healing into tools they can use every day.
I believe words can rewrite the way we love, lead, and live. My hope is that every project I share serves as both a mirror and a catalyst—helping people not only recognize who they are but rise into who they were always meant to be.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
The moment that shaped me most wasn’t glamorous—it was when I found myself at rock bottom, stripped of titles, roles, and the masks I thought defined me. In that silence, I realized that pain can either bury you or break you open. That awakening shifted everything. I stopped seeing the world as a place I had to survive in and began seeing it as a place I could create in.
That perspective is at the core of my work now. I don’t just write or build brands—I create spaces where people can take their hardest truths and turn them into power. Because I learned that the world doesn’t change when you avoid pain—it changes when you transform it.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain the day I realized silence was costing me more than speaking ever could. For years, I thought holding it all in made me strong, but it only kept me invisible—even to myself. The turning point came when I put my truth on paper for the first time. What I thought was just survival writing became the very thing that freed me.
From that moment on, I stopped seeing pain as a prison and began using it as a blueprint. Every word I write, every journal I create, every voice memo I record is rooted in the belief that pain can be turned into power if you’re willing to face it and transform it. That shift didn’t just change how I saw myself—it’s the foundation of everything I’ve built for others.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
One truth I carry that not everyone agrees with is this: pain is not something to run from—it’s something to transform. Most people are taught to avoid it, numb it, or pretend it doesn’t exist. But I believe pain holds the exact blueprint for our power.
When you stop treating it like an enemy and start treating it like a teacher, it changes everything. That’s where resilience is born, and that’s where purpose takes root. My entire body of work is built on this conviction: that our wounds, when faced and worked through, can become the very places where our greatest wisdom is born.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I didn’t just write words—I wrote doors. That my books, journals, games, and voice were not just products, but entry points into healing, clarity, and courage. I want my legacy to be that I saw people where they were and loved them into where they could be.
If the story told about me is that I left others more whole, more seen, and more valued than when I found them, then I will have lived well. My work isn’t about building monuments—it’s about planting seeds of transformation that continue to bloom long after I’m gone.
