We recently had the chance to connect with Paige Bland-Thompson and have shared our conversation below.
Paige , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I would say working on myself by doing things that make me feel good so that I can better serve other people and my community by being the person that they need me to be. Working out, meditating, skin care and also taking shots of pure olive oil and hydroxytyrosol every morning to better myself internally so the good will radiate forward. My mission is to always be the best version of myself so that I can be my highest potential for others and it’s the most selfless thing anyone can do for themselves and I wish more people understood that.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Sure! My name is Paige and I am a local Realtor with Atlanta Communities in Woodstock, one of the top brokerages here in the Metro Atlanta area and building my brand has been such an incredible journey for me and getting to share my brand with others is something that really excites me. My brand is different, unique and stands out because of the mission behind it and adding my personal touches to it. I was born in Macon, Georgia and moved to Alpharetta, Georgia when I was three years old where I had the rare and great pleasure of watching these communities grow and inspire other surrounding communities over the years and not many people can say that. My father, played a huge role in developing these areas in Metro Atlanta and created lifestyle and enjoyment over the course of his time at Choate Construction where he was the Vice President of the company. One of my biggest why’s in my business is to take on my fathers legacy but in a residential way so that people can really enjoy what my father played part in, in the communities that are so near and dear to me. My father is my biggest role model and he has taught me the most valuable thing in business and that is just to be you and be the best server for the community as you can be. Trust is the foundation and building relationships to help serve people is what matters the most. Listen and become the solution and impact peoples lives. When people support my business they are doing a lot more than just supporting what I have built, they are supporting the hill that I will die on. In addition to real estate I also am a consultant for the fastest growing waterless beauty brand in the US that is based in Germany, called The Olive Tree People and its been an honor to share that with people and how transformative that journey is.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
I would say that I have been very blessed with two incredible mentor/role models, first being my father, Bill Bland and my mentor/broker, Laura Martineau, who both play a significant role in my business. Without these two people, I would not be where I am today. I owe them all the praises and I am forever grateful for God aligning them in my life the way that he has.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I truly love this question, because it plays such a huge role in my mindset and motivation. Being a business owner, you deal with such an emotional roller coaster ride and this is one of the most powerful and inspiring things for me when I am feeling defeated or feeling doubt. The one thing I would say to my younger self would be, “You are good enough and you were sent to this world to help people. This helpless feeling you have now does not compare to what is coming and I wish you knew how proud you are going to be of your older self” and I would also tell her “faith is believing in something that you cannot yet see and having faith in this world and everything you will accomplish is key. God is going to bless you in ways you would never imagine so never lose faith.” In everything I do, personally and professionally, I always keep that little girl in mind and I do it for her. As a child, I always felt like I wasn’t good enough because I was bullied and picked on in school, but my home life was my safe place and its where I felt the most love and compassion so I never understood why the outside world was so harsh on me. I actually have a picture of me as a little girl (probably 6 or 7 years old) on my desk in my office so I can constantly be reminded of that little girl so she can be proud of me. She truly keeps me going even when I feel like everything is falling apart.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I would say that my closet friends would say that self-care and positive mindset really matters to me. I am a firm believer in the most selfless act of self care so that you can be the person that God and other people need you to be. If you don’t fully love yourself unconditionally then how are you going to be there for other people? Its impossible. Not taking care of yourself is selfish and serves a spiral effect which I believe a lot of the mental illness we see these days stems from not putting yourself first SO THAT you can be that person people need you to be. God places each of us on this world with a gift. Sometimes people find their gift very early on and some people take decades to find it. But you are an intentional purpose and people are suffering by not reaching your full potential and your special gift God gave you, due to you not taking care of yourself. If your “friends” can’t understand that, then they don’t really care about you the way you thought they did and they are selfish. Never feel bad for making time for yourself. Self care and self love will and will always be the most selfless thing you could ever do.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
This is a great question, however I think most people in this world do not know what “peace” really means. Peace is when you are in the midst of the storm, right in the middle of it and where you are it is calm and safe but around that safe net is chaos. The eye of a hurricane is the perfect example of this. But, I feel most at peace when I reading and learning the Bible and I am not afraid nor am I ashamed to admit my faith in that. The Bible is literally a guide to life, learning lessons, the greatest miracle that ever happened on earth and what is to come in the future and we get access to it all. How great is that?? I love learning scriptures and I am at full peace knowing that one day I will live in eternity with the one who intentionally created me and experience the joy that is coming. Thats my peace.
