Meet Kenneth Sean of Buford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Sean.

Hi Kenneth, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always believed that vision without execution is just a dream. My story is really about pairing vision with discipline, faith, and consistency.

I started my career in marketing nearly two decades ago after earning my MBA in Marketing and a background in Corporate Communications. From early on, I was drawn to brand building — not just creating campaigns, but building platforms that move people and drive measurable growth. Over the years, I’ve led marketing initiatives across healthcare, CPG, and energy, contributing to more than $200 million in sales growth for major brands. One of the defining chapters of my corporate journey was serving as Senior Marketing Director at Mielle Organics, where I helped scale the brand past $110 million in revenue.

Today, I serve in senior agency leadership, overseeing high-profile accounts like Georgia Power and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. My role requires strategic clarity, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to lead through complexity. Being in executive spaces where I’m often the only person who looks like me has strengthened my resilience and sharpened my commitment to excellence.

Beyond corporate leadership, I’m deeply entrepreneurial. I founded Major Vision Promotions, where I provide marketing consulting for growing businesses and brands looking to scale strategically. Through that platform, I also launched apparel that reflects the mindset I live by vision, ownership, and execution. It’s more than merchandise; it’s a statement about building what you want to see in the world.

I also created Built vs Bought, an automotive media brand centered around my Foxbody Mustang build. What started as documenting my passion evolved into a growing content platform with brand partnerships, event appearances, and a strong enthusiast community. Built vs Bought represents craftsmanship, discipline, and legacy — themes that show up in every part of my life.

In addition, I’m an author. My book, SMDH: Single. Married. Divorced. Healed., will be released on March 15th. It explores growth, accountability, relationships, and emotional healing. Writing it was one of the most vulnerable things I’ve ever done, but it reinforced something powerful leadership isn’t just about business wins; it’s about personal evolution and helping others heal and grow.

At the core of everything I do, whether in the boardroom, through Major Vision Promotions, in the garage building cars, or at home with my family is the desire to build something meaningful. I’m building brands, platforms, legacy, and impact. My journey hasn’t been linear, but every chapter has reinforced one truth: bet on your vision, put in the work, and stay rooted in purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road.

Professionally, I have often found myself as the only Black male in executive or senior leadership rooms. That reality comes with a unique weight. There is the pressure to perform at an exceptional level, the unspoken expectation to represent more than just yourself, and the constant awareness that your margin for error can feel smaller than everyone else’s. You learn quickly that excellence is not optional. It is required.

There have been moments where I had to navigate environments where I did not always feel seen or fully understood. But instead of allowing that to discourage me, I made a decision early on to let preparation, performance, and results speak for me. I focused on becoming undeniable in my work. Over time, I realized that being the only is challenging, but it is also powerful. It means you are breaking ground.

Alongside that, I have battled epilepsy throughout my journey. Managing a neurological condition while leading teams, running businesses, creating content, and being present for my family has not always been easy. There are days where I have to be extremely disciplined about stress, sleep, and balance. Epilepsy forces you to respect your limits, but it also teaches resilience. It has strengthened my faith, my perspective, and my gratitude.

Both of these realities, navigating corporate spaces as the only Black executive and managing epilepsy, have shaped me. They have taught me how to lead with empathy, how to stay grounded under pressure, and how to build systems around me that support sustainability instead of burnout.

So no, it has not been smooth. But every obstacle refined me. Every challenge sharpened me. And every setback reinforced that I am here for a reason. Not just to succeed, but to create space and opportunity for others coming behind me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At a high level, I build brands that grow.

My background is in strategic marketing and revenue acceleration. I specialize in helping brands clarify their positioning, align their messaging, and scale in a way that is both intentional and measurable. I am known for combining high level strategy with disciplined execution. I do not just create plans. I build systems that drive performance.

One of my proudest accomplishments was helping scale Mielle Organics, which at the time was a Black owned beauty brand, from 4 million dollars in revenue to over 200 million dollars in sales during my tenure. Being part of that growth journey was transformative. It was not just about numbers. It was about building infrastructure, strengthening brand equity, expanding distribution, and proving that culturally rooted brands can compete at the highest level.

In my agency leadership roles, I oversee complex accounts and multimillion dollar marketing investments. I am often brought in to bring structure, clarity, and forward thinking direction to brands that are navigating growth or transition. I am known for asking the right questions, identifying gaps quickly, and aligning cross functional teams around a clear path forward.

Outside of corporate leadership, I run Major Vision Promotions, where I provide marketing consulting to entrepreneurs and growing businesses. I also design and sell apparel rooted in the mindset of vision and ownership. I enjoy working directly with founders because it reminds me that strategy should always serve real people and real impact.

I also built Built vs Bought, an automotive platform that merges storytelling, craftsmanship, and brand partnerships. That venture reflects another strength of mine which is the ability to turn passion into platform and platform into business.

What sets me apart is range and results. I can operate at the enterprise level, scaling national brands into nine figure territory, while also advising emerging businesses on foundational growth. I understand boardroom strategy, but I also understand grassroots brand building.

More than anything, I am proud that I have been able to create measurable impact in every space I enter. Whether it is driving hundreds of millions in revenue, helping entrepreneurs refine their vision, or building platforms from scratch, my work is rooted in growth, ownership, and long term sustainability.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I would not be where I am without the people who poured into me along the way.

First and foremost, my wife deserves the most credit. She has been my anchor, my sounding board, and my steady support system through every season. Whether it was long nights, high pressure roles, entrepreneurial risks, or navigating my health journey with epilepsy, she has been there consistently. She believes in me even in moments when I am stretching into new territory. That kind of belief gives you the confidence to take bigger risks and think bigger. Behind every milestone I have achieved, she has played a role.

My mentor, Tifair Hamed, also changed the trajectory of my life. She literally gave me the blueprint to marketing. Back in 2011, she encouraged me to pursue my MBA, which was a pivotal decision that expanded how I think and lead. She also opened the door for me into the advertising world that I am in today. More than opportunities, she gave me clarity and structure. She taught me how to think strategically, how to connect marketing to business outcomes, and how to navigate corporate spaces with confidence. Having a mentor who not only teaches you but advocates for you is invaluable, and she did both.

There are also several leaders and colleagues throughout my corporate journey who opened doors and trusted me with responsibility before I fully saw myself ready. Those moments matter. Being invited into rooms, given stretch assignments, and trusted with large scale accounts accelerated my growth. I have been fortunate to work alongside talented teammates who challenged me, sharpened me, and helped refine my leadership style.

Success is never a solo journey. I have worked hard, but I have also been supported, stretched, and championed by people who saw something in me early. I try to honor that now by mentoring others and creating access wherever I can.
