Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcia Rich Lee.
Hi Marcia , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Chicago, but Atlanta has been home since 2004. I came down to attend Clark Atlanta University, studied Mass Media with a concentration in radio, and honestly never left.
Creativity has always just been a part of me. I grew up around art, storytelling, and women who figured things out and built things from nothing. My grandmother was a professional artist, and she had this way of creating, hosting, and holding people together all from her home. I was watching all of that and taking it in without even realizing it.
After college, life took me through a lot of different chapters. Media, entrepreneurship, relationships, motherhood, rebuilding.
Becoming a mom changed everything for me. It made me get really honest with myself about who I was, what I cared about, and what I actually wanted to build.
About three years ago I leaned all the way into what had always been in my hands. I started Brush Haus, a design-build company that specializes in custom wood accent walls, lime wash finishes, and interior feature builds. I started out doing everything myself, physically on-site. Now I’m growing into full project management and creative direction. I always say I don’t just build walls. I build statements. I want people to walk into a space and feel like it was made with intention, because it was.
Right now I’m in what I call a refining season. Transitioning from the hands-on work into leadership, scaling the business strategically, and working on some personal projects around positive psychology, structure, and legacy. Because entrepreneurship for me has never just been about income. It’s about the opportunity to build a legacy. And leaving something real behind for my daughter.
My journey hasn’t been linear at all. It’s been layered. Creativity, faith, resilience, rebuilding, vision. But where I am today feels grounded. And I’m really clear about where I’m going next.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road and I’m still navigating parts of it.
Building a business while raising a young daughter and rebuilding personally has stretched me in ways I didn’t anticipate. There have been financial pressures, emotional challenges, and moments of uncertainty. Entrepreneurship requires resilience, and I’ve had to develop that in real time. I am also doing manual labor.
I’m not on the other side yet, but I am on my way. Each challenge has forced me to become more structured, more strategic, and more intentional about the life and legacy I’m building. The struggle isn’t a setback … it’s shaping me into the leader I need to be for where I’m headed.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m the founder of Brush Haus, a design-build company specializing in custom wood accent walls, lime wash finishes, and intentional interior feature builds. I focus on statement walls that elevate a space without overwhelming it through clean lines, texture, depth, and craftsmanship.
I’m known for being hands-on, detail-oriented, and for blending creativity with structure. I don’t just install designs. I think through scale, lighting, proportion, and how the space will actually feel once someone lives in it.
What I’m most proud of is building this business from the ground up while navigating real life. Every project represents growth, resilience, and refinement. What sets me apart is that I approach spaces the same way I approach life, intentionally. It’s not just about what looks good. It’s about what lasts.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
No advice here. I had two mentors who passed away and I met them through life’s journey.
