Community Highlights: Meet Anne Mason of Anne Mason Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Mason.

Hi Anne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, surrounded by a strong arts culture that shaped how I see the world from a young age. I’ve always been drawn to creativity, but also to structure and problem-solving—which is what led me to study design at SCAD. I started my career in industrial design, creating packaging for major brands, but over time I realized I wanted to design spaces that people actually live in and experience every day.

That realization led me back to school for interior design, and eventually to working at an architecture firm in Atlanta, where I learned how much coordination, detail, and intention goes into bringing a space to life. It was there that I really began to understand not just how to design something beautiful, but how to make it work.

In 2024, I started Anne Mason Design with a very personal goal: to create a design experience that feels clear, thoughtful, and genuinely supportive for my clients. I believe your home should make your life easier, not stressful, and that belief really guides everything I do.

Now I spend my days helping families and professionals create spaces that feel like them – spaces that are both beautiful and deeply functional. And along the way, I’ve found a lot of purpose not just in the work itself, but in building something that reflects my values and the kind of experience I want people to have.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been quite a journey over the past two years, in all honesty. One of the biggest challenges for me was navigating a shift in career paths while also building my own business. Interior design is such a broad profession, and transitioning from a large commercial firm to running my own residential-focused studio required a complete reset.

I had to discover all new networks, vendors, pricing structures, and marketing tactics to establish the groundwork for the type of firm I wanted to build.

Thankfully, through that process, I’ve built an incredible team and network that I can truly rely on. This foundation creates a jumping off point for every future success that I have.

We’ve been impressed with Anne Mason Design, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At its core, Anne Mason Design was built around a simple belief: your home should support your life, not stress you out. Everything we do is centered on creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but deeply functional and thoughtfully tailored to the people living in them.

We are a full-service interior design studio, working on everything from renovations to new builds in both residential and small commercial spaces. We guide our clients through the entire process – from early space planning and finish selections to working closely with builders and contractors during construction, all the way through furnishing and final styling. Our goal is to bring clarity and structure to what can often feel like an overwhelming experience.

I’m especially proud of the experience we create for our clients. Design can feel intimidating or unclear, and I’ve worked hard to build a process that feels collaborative, transparent, and supportive from start to finish. What sets us apart is the level of organization and intention we bring to the process.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Network, network, network! Building relationships with other business owners and industry professionals doesn’t just expand your resources—it expands your perspective. The more people you speak to and truly engage with will help you understand the foundation of your field, identify any gaps you can fill, and potentially discover how you can become better than your competitors.
