Meet LaTonya MeChelle of The NLuv Group and Prove Magazine

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTonya MeChelle.

LaTonya, please share your story with us. 
I am a Disabled Military Veteran who just so happen to be a military brat who has resides all over the world to include Okinawa Japan and Madrid, Spain. After completing high school, I decided to follow in my dad’s footsteps and join the Air Force. I served 8.5 years Active Duty and I’m still an Inactive Air Force Reservist. where I had prestigious jobs that allowed me to work at the Pentagon several times and work directly for Generals. After getting out, I stayed connected to the government by becoming a Department of Defense Contractor working for company’s that trusted my talent and expertise to help successfully run their companies. Doing jobs such as Facility Security Officers, Linguist Support Manager and Program Manager for several contracts.

Although I’ve always loved what I did, I realized that I was missing something. I wanted to do something working with people, so I could help save people. I’ve been through so much, I wish I had a Life Coach back in the days or someone to motivate me. I give because I don’t want others to go through what I had to go through. . I became a Life Coach when I was approached by someone telling me that I would be great at it and referred me my first customer, from that day forth no matter what I do, I will never stop having Life Coaching Clients. I also started my first online magazine and named it The Mirror Online Magazine. While doing this, I kept working a full-time job.

In 2015, after completing my last Active Duty assignment with the Air Force Reserve, I made a decision that I wanted to truly work for myself. So I set out to come up with a game plan that would allow me to be me and help others. I had my radio show, Life Coaching was a definite and I realized that I loved Speaking to others, sharing my story. So I started researching and ended up attending conferences and studying under the famous, Motivational Speaker, Les Brown.

Although I had the knowledge and the great ideas, the money wasn’t coming in quite like I expected. I began to develop websites and graphics for clients, along with my Coaching and Radio Show. I started to get Speaking engagements but none that would take me to the next level, or so I thought. People started realizing that I was good with Admin Support, Public Relations Matters & Social Media Engagement, so they started hiring me to provide these services.

I made a decision to move to Atlanta from the Washington DC area in Feb 2016 after visiting a good friend. By Aug 2016, I was a new resident of Atlanta. I knew I was supposed to be here but I wasn’t sure why. I started off doing Publicist work, Blogging and Media (that’s how TL2 MEDIA GROUP started) both for other publications and for my own, Dear Black Men Network. A network that I created determined to find a way to change society’s negative image of the Black Man. Thankfully, I was able to continue servicing my Life Coaching’s Clients from when I resided in MD. None of it was easy. But since I was determined not to go back and work for someone else, I could do nothing but push.

As time passed, I accepted the fact that I didn’t have the patience to do Publicist work and I needed to add a little more flavor to the Dear Black Men Network, so I added a magazine concept. That’s where PROVE MAGAZINE came into the picture, PROOF THAT POSITIVE BLACK MEN EXIST. Imagine that, a black woman that showcases and uplifts black men for a living. We successfully launched our online edition this past June and I intend to launch the Print Edition in Fall 2018. We also send out a Weekly EBlast where we showcase our Weekly Spotlights which includes topics such as, Father of the Week, Businessman of the Week, Event of the Week & more.

As for the Life Coaching, I had to add some flavor to that. The more and more clients I got, I realized that they all ended up talking about the same thing, love. Hmmm! You want love, let’s fix you so that love will come your way. And that’s how I added the Matchmaking side to my business and created SITY SINGLES. Which includes my Coaching Services and events for serious singles who are interested in having a monogamous relationship. I even have a dating show that I’m working on called Sity Singles.

I know it seems like a lot but all of it falls under The NLuv Group., in which our motto is CHOICES. Constantly Having Opportunities to Increase Change & Empower Self. I love to say. Take what applies to you and leave the rest for someone else. We are like a buffet of Love, you’re gonna find something that will work for you.

Everything and all I do related to my business is all about Love! I’m often asked, why are you so about love. I also say I am a Survivor of Domestic Abuse, I am a victim of the #metoo movement, I have so many reasons why I should’ve given up but I haven’t cause LOVE saved me and taught me the power of loving myself and giving back to others. You want it, it’s yours.

Oh yeah, I’m also the mother of the best man alive, my 28-year-old son, Timothy and my two grandsons Logan, 4 and Lennox, 2 months.

Has it been a smooth road?
No. My way of thinking and allowing FEAR to rule my world use to be one of my biggest struggles. Putting myself in a box, thinking that I had to be just one way, was a big struggle for me. Dealing with people who claimed to be business people, who weren’t. Waiting for money that was never received.

I got illegally evicted a shortly after I moved to Georgia and I spent some time being homeless. It’s been a rough road but I always seem to pull through. I recently did a podcast interview with The Black Podcast and they had me explain some of the things that I had to deal with.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I must say, PROVE MAGAZINE is probably my personal favorite out of all of my entities.

Because it’s a movement that’s so needed and there’s really not anyone out here doing it, I believe within the next year, Prove Magazine will become a HOUSEHOLD name and it will truly be internationally known and ranked among the top magazine’s out. As for the rest of the entities, let’s just say, I’m waiting for them to offer me a reality show about the NLuv Group, so we can show the world positive images of black people.

Between my clients and the people that I come into contact daily, it’s important for the world to know and see what LOVE & positive energy looks like. I know it can save a lot of people and help make this world a better place.

Although we are based out of Atlanta, we will be global within the next 2 years. With God on our side and the Law of Attraction, we have no other choice but to win.
