Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Pendlington.
Hi Ian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My/my band’s story recently is most interesting, I think. In 2025, after merging my band of over 10 years with another friend band to form Run Katie Run, we had started getting some real success. Opening for bands we look up to, making more and more important connections, and being featured on national television.
We signed with a talent agency that promised for the success and income to not only continue, but increase exponentially, only to find out after signing that they wanted us to be a wedding band for them because had a female lead singer. Fortunately, our front woman Katie had negotiated an easy way to terminate the contract in case anything like this were to happen. The problem is that we were left have way into our year with absolutely zero bookings on the calendar; as we could not book for ourselves while we were signed.
To add to the stress of that, two of our six band members left the band, and three of the four remaining band members all went through divorces in 2025. We spent the rest of the year completely starting our band over, rebuilding our home studio, starting a YouTube series, starting an additional tribute band, and made a new full length album to show our audience our new sound.
All of these events happened in an incredibly condensed amount of time, and it actually still hasn’t been a full year since all of this happened.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
HA! Looks like I way have answered this in the previous question. Honestly, losing the two band members, and all of us going through separations/divorces helped us put 100% focus into rebooting the band.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In the band, my responsibility is audio. I record and mix our music for albums, YouTube, and social media. I am very proud of the home studio that we have all built together. We are able to record live stream shows and create any kind of video we can dream of with all of the cameras we have mounted to the walls. It’s a little music factory. I am proud of the tight family unit that the band has become. We communicate clearly and fairly, we are all excited about growing as a band and as people, and we all have so much fun together. we are in our own little world when the four of us are together wether its at home, on stage, a green room, wherever.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like that things at least feel close together. Even more than the traffic, I really dislike how narrow all the streets are in Atlanta.
