Today we’d like to introduce you to Rolling $tone Tima (RR$T).
Thank you for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Rolling $tone Tima (RR$T). I am a photographer based in Snellville, Georgia. I have been photographing for over 11 years and counting. Starting out with just my iPhone 5c, I took pictures of whatever I saw, whether it would be raindrops on the car window, buildings, sunrises, sunsets, clothing, whatever I could take pictures of. That’s where my passion for photos ignited. One Christmas I was gifted a Sony digital camera, which was the first real DSLR I ever shot with, and that pushed everything forward. Prior to that, I had never used a digital camera before and had no one to show me the ropes. I decided to research everything I needed to know and taught myself how to take pictures, effectively and professionally. Over time, I created my own shooting style and aesthetic of art coming from photographing just sceneries . As I was pondering one day in my room for a name that I would have my business under, PTLYD came to me. Which is the acronym for Pray to live your dreams. I gradually moved onto friends and family capturing moments of them , whether it was an ordinary day, just hanging out, or big events like prom, weddings, and performances in their lives. Quickly, I became the personal photographer of
musical artists KELL&TRIS as well as DJ Gibby of SnellVegas.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth sailing. I have had challenges with finding clientele, creative blocks, or apprehensions that get in the way and maneuvering through them. Regardless of how you may feel, I also used the resources that were available to me. I didn’t have the most expensive or the best, but I’ve always worked with what I had. I have learned the value of pushing through for something that I truly love to do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in taking photographs.
Which I am mostly known for.
But I am most proud of having something that can showcase the beauty of what God has created. Something that sets me apart from others is not comparing myself or my work to others and understanding that everyone has space and creativity to share. We all have different perspectives on things, and understanding that is beautiful.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I might be a little out there with this one, but TikTok is my favorite app right now.
